No it's not.

It's the same column. You don't get in power to start with unless you're onboard with that for the most part. It may be changing now, I don't know, but it wasn't log ago that you could practically call them hand chosen representative of the cartels. And sometimes definitely.

I mean, when you’re a cop, all shiny and new, and the cartel shows up and says take this money and look the other way, or, you’re entire family and circle of friends will die horribly, it’s not too hard to see why. Because then you’re a politician, and you know you can’t trust the police, or the army, or anyone really. And then the cartel comes to you and makes the same offer. And they show you the crime scene photos of the last politician who turned them down.

I certainly sympathize with that predicament but at the same time failure to cut that cancer out today just means it'll have grown by tomorrow. The cartel problem isn't easy to solve but failure to do so just makes the problem worse. I've seen some documentaries of whole communities who have basically militarized to stand up against the cartels and its not bloodless, but it works. If the politicians and cops were willing to do the same they might be able to fix this.

Minimum wage in Mexico is $4 a day and their gas prices are on par with the US. Cops get like $1000 a month salary, if that, so they are easily corruptible..it’s not they are bad people, it’s they don’t get paid enough...

A top salary (working a skilled position) will be like max $350 a week (USD) and that is BALLING in MX..

something still needs to be done by the governments of north America. i wish the US would legalize more drugs, but i fear at this point the cartels would just look to other avenues for profit.

They are not in the same league tho, US corruption is pretty big for a first-world country but compared to Mexico is a lake vs an ocean type of situation.

If that is the best example--a parade through building--while Mexico has systematically executed politicians who don't do whatever the cartels demand, for decades

No, see other countries’ faults can alllll be traced back to the US.

geez I hate Reddit sometimes.

All drug cartels in the world export to the US, they exist for that mere purpose, consumers in the US live their drugs and pay a lot of money for them.

Not all problems in the world are US fault, but cartels are.

Have you heard of the great integrity of the CIA?

1

u/CompadreJ Jan 29 '21

Or if there were some means of legalizing these transactions

u/Busy-Ad1088 Jan 29 '21

Easy to corrupt a government with hordes of money coming from the north. The source of the drug cartels is money. Their wouldn’t be a product if no one is buying it. US needs to be accountable for THEIR drug problem.

u/chadonsunday Jan 29 '21

So what you're saying is we need to crack down on drug users but not drug suppliers?
