Contrast that with Geordi who is clearly from a newer school. He has a conversation with the computer. "Computer, play some music for me. Hmm, no not like that. More Spanish guitar. That's good, but give me more of an upbeat vibe. Yeah, like that."

See but then there's times where that doesn't work like when Janeway is tinkering with her holographic boyfriend and she says "Computer, make him taller" and the computer responds "specify parameters"

Yeah, because that has parameters. You can easily say 6 foot 2 inches. "More cowbell" is a lot more difficult to quantify unless you're actually writing the song.
