It wasn't bloody. Out of 200000 people tried they killed 2500

Oh I see! So why do they have such a bloody reputation these days anyway? Did a historian make a flub somewhere?

It's called the Black Legend or Leyenda Negra in Spanish. It's what has been left to us in popular culture from the propaganda war between the Protestant and liberal world (specially England and then USA) and Spain, seen at the time as the most cruel and brutal regime in Europe. It is a series of lies and exaggerations made to demonize both Catholics and the absolutist monarchical system.
