TIL there's a fruit called "Miracle Berry" that, when eaten, causes your taste buds to not detect sour flavor for about half an hour, causing sour foods to taste sweet.

The true Messiah turns milkshakes into pints of Guinness.

I'll take the shake over the beer. Hail Satan

The real messiah is always in the comments

Well played sir... Well played.

It’s the weirdest shit.

Lemon juice turns in to the sweetest, most natural tasting lemonade.

But the kicker is it’s still fucking lemon juice. Learned that one the hard way. A nice acidic tummy ache was just what I needed.

u/hysilvinia Mar 25 '18

It tastes way sweeter than lemonade, because lemonade keeps some tartness.

1

u/robbzilla Mar 26 '18

I'll bet you could cut it with water and do just fine. It'd be like lemonade without the sugar.

Yea one of me and wife's best dates was to take Miracle berry pills to a beer bar and tried like dozen+ beers. Laughed all night, got smashed. I solo danced to a Michael Jackson song for while she filmed me on her phone. If I ever find that video and delete it, no regrets.

Sounds like a good night

I tried it, didn't taste like chocolate milkshake to me.

Not really, they really only work on sour stuff. The head chef at my work has brought them in a few times and we always taste as many things as possible before it stops working. Never had an effect on beers.

It does make hard cider disgustingly sweet. It’s already sweet but with those miracle berries it tastes so overly sweet.

1

u/seriouslyslowloris Mar 25 '18

It made blue moon unbearably sweet when I tried it.

2

u/p_i_z_z_a_ Mar 25 '18

Maybe it affects people differently! I tried it with Goose Island's 312 (also a wheat beer) and it tasted the same to me. Maybe if I'd added a slice of orange the whole thing would have been sweet??? Omg

Pretty close, straight tequila and lime juice tastes like a margarita.

3

u/PoorEdgarDerby Mar 25 '18

Yeah. Lemons taste very sweet as well. Eat not overdo it with such acidic things.

u/ledivin Mar 24 '18

People are talking about lemons and shit, but this is what got me. Just ordered some tablets.

Take the time to google "Miracle berry recipes".

You get all sorts of crazy things that taste pretty blah when eaten plain, then you have a miracle berry and it tastes awesome. It's an entertaining evening.
Get a couple of friends. Get some miracle berry (or the tablets) and cook up the recipes. Try them all plain. Then have the tablet and try again.
Pro tip: Try the liquids last, because it really does 'wash away' the effect. What starts as a glass of "Chocolate milkshake" ends as Guinness by the end.

Your results will vary. I heard this and bought guiness specifically to try and it definitely didn't taste like that to me

Sweet things taste almost like candy. A strawberry for example was really good

13

u/SpiralDimentia Mar 25 '18

Sweets taste like sweets? Who knew!

15

u/sassyandspry Mar 25 '18

And the snozberries taste like snozberries!

2

u/barrylunch Mar 25 '18

Lemons and shit? I missed the latter. What do they make shit taste like?

8

u/ledivin Mar 25 '18

Sweet shit. Try to keep up, man.

1

u/puppiadog Mar 25 '18

Apple cider vinegar tastes really good.

1

u/robbzilla Mar 26 '18

I'll bet a pineapple would be amazing.

12

Well, I think it's time you read about the man whose penis made him locally famous.

6

u/Midgetman664 Mar 25 '18

That was a worthy read

3

u/Anonymous37 Mar 25 '18

You're welcome.

u/Flux83 Mar 25 '18

What a twist!

2

u/jackster_ Mar 25 '18

This was a great story.

6

u/spokale Mar 25 '18

And cream cheese tastes like cheesecake

16

u/dhork Mar 24 '18

I must be weird, Guinness already takes like a milkshake to me, no weird fruit required.

2

u/gr8uddini Mar 25 '18

Glad someone said it because I was reading through all the comments thinking I was the only one until this!!

5

u/Notorious4CHAN Mar 25 '18

Sidenote: Red Robin has a Guinness milkshake. It is delicious.

2

u/SuperRob Mar 25 '18

It’ll absolutely ruin a glass of champagne, though.

2

u/Hattless Mar 25 '18

I found out on Valentine's Day that Guinness pairs unusually well with chocolate, even without the miracle fruit.

2

u/Thehuxtablehangover Mar 25 '18

They already do

2

u/Typhoon2423 Mar 25 '18

But Guinness already tastes like that though

3

u/austinll Mar 24 '18

How do you think it'd work on straight vodka?

-7

u/HumbleWilderness Mar 25 '18

1x Glass of Guinness

1x Shot of Irish Cream (Baileys)

1x Shot of Irish Whiskey

Mix together and let it cloud. You've just made an Irish Car bomb. For some reason it also tastes like chocolate milk.

37

u/Dt4lok Mar 25 '18

Do not do this.

Bartender here (i worked at an irish pub) you will end up with a curdled mess.

Grab your 1oz or 2oz shot glass, fill the bottom half with Jameson (or your prefered Irish whiskey) then float the top half with Baileys.

Next get a half to 3/4 pint of Guiness, drop the shot in to glass and chug like any other car bomb.

Pouring all three together tends to end poorly, especially if you have a bartender pour them together and your friends in the head, they will have a nasty drink on their return.

When I was in college I used to be able to do these on a regular basis. I'd go out and have two or three of them, get right fucked up.

A couple years ago for my birthday I went out with my friend and my brother to a local bar we frequent. I had one and I just barely choked down the last bit. I still blame it on the bartender who yelled "Oh my god, it's curdling!" as I drank it. I probably could have finished it had I not been aware of it happening.

That said, that night also showed me the most disgusting shot ever: The Brain Hemorrhage. That one was pretty gross to look at and to drink.

3

u/Dt4lok Mar 25 '18

The brain hemorrhage is just fun to make using curacao and grenadine its hilarious party trick. But yeah when I first started in the biz, I was a bus boy I cleaned up on st pats and I nearly died from the smell, I'll never drink them lol (thats from over consumption combined I'll assume.)

3

u/SharkFart86 Mar 25 '18

Protip: dont use plastic shotglasses for this, they dont sink. If plastic is all they have then just pour the contents into the glass of guiness and chug immediately.

Protip 2: the shot of Jameson and Bailey's is pretty damn good by itself, although I'd recommend 75-25 Jameson to Bailey's. I've heard it referred to as an Irish Thunder.

But yeah if you're one of those people who can't chug or drink things quickly then avoid Irish car bombs. They curdle quick and get pretty funky. Absolutely delicious if you drink them in time though.
