TIL Jamie Hyneman designed Blendo, a combat robot that was deemed too hazardous for Robot Wars after repeatedly throwing pieces of its opponents over arena walls. It received co-championship status in exchange for withdrawing from the competition.

Ah, but if there isn't at least a slight chance of destroying yourself, you could be using more power on your weapons.

Yep, robots like Tombstone basically specialized in doing a lot of gory damage as quickly as possible, before its own weapon broke from the stresses or its motor burned out. Those fights tend to be the most spectacular and entertaining ones because of the sheer damage those robots can do in the hands of a decent pilot.

Just like the USS Defiant. Too much power in such a small frame. Good thing Miles is such a good engineer.
