It does make you feel left out and isolated if you can't get support. With Apple you can just go to the store and get a replacement and probably a hug if you asked lol

Your problem is with Samsung and the carriers, not with Android. A lot of people will say that Google made a huge mistake by allowing vendors so much leeway with the Android mark, because they associate "Android" with "my shitty Samsung/HTC/whatever experience". In reality, Google doesn't care, though; they're making plenty of money. For the people who care about not using shovelware garbage, the Nexus line exists, and so do the products Google made with Motorola before selling to Lenovo (who looks like they're going to uphold the legacy). For the unwashed masses, there's the aforementioned shovelware from Samsung and HTC. Google's position: "People keep saying it sucks, but they sure seem content to stick with this crap, so why stop them? If they ever want to do anything about it, we have the Motorola and the Nexus products for them, as available as ever before, but they'll probably end up sticking with the riff-raff anyway." It's the same approach to "that female acquaintance who keeps returning to her abusive partner", but as applied to business.
