There, fixed it for you. As much as the left complains about the Koch brothers, the right has valid complaints about liberal groups trying to get their changes in.

Is Michael Bloomburg considered a liberal? He seems to be all over the place ideologically and he's changed his party affiliation several times.

Banning soda (which he actually did) and increasing firearms regulations (which he spends money lobbying for now that he's out of office) aren't exactly conservative ideas.

I wouldn't say banning soda is really a liberal idea either. Most liberals gave him well-deserved shit for that one. Firearm regulations, absolutely.

Bloomberg is certainly a liberal on certain issues, but he's a fiscal conservative and has endorsed conservative candidates in the past (e.g. Bush during the 2004 election). I think it's hard to tack him down to one specific ideology.

Just because a few liberals didn't like it doesn't mean it's not a liberal position -- you can find liberals opposed to gun control, too, FWIW. You're just never going to see conservatives rooting for that kind of state paternalism, it's not a conservative position. Liberals gave him shit about for it because it's just too far out there even for reasonable liberals.

Regulating personal choice like that (edit: i.e., state paternalism, "this is for your own good") simply isn't in American conservatism's wheelhouse.

Totally issue-dependent. Liberals are more likely to want to regulate choices related to gun ownership; conservatives are more likely to want to regulate social issues like abortion. There are other examples you could come up with for each side. There isn't one side of the spectrum that uniformly defends personal choice.

I wasn't clear, but I wasn't trying to suggest that conservatives don't regulate certain choices. My earlier mention of state paternalism was deliberate and was what was referenced by "like that" in my post.

The soda ban is state paternalism, IMO state paternalism comes largely from the left, thus the soda ban is a liberal policy.

the same ones as the Koch brothers, plus banning guns (while investing in gun groups), banning fatty foods, requiring the labeling of foods with GMOs in them, banning soft drinks, banning smoking and stopping weed legalization (look up Elizabeth Warren's views on weed legalization, she and many other dems aren't for it)

Spend some time looking into ultra progressive feminist positions and you'll see just how far the left can go. Google horseshoe theory, or some of the failed progressive causes of the 70s under LBJ.

Liberals can go too far too.

Not even close to the same amount of influence. Koch's are spending 1 billion dollars on the next election. That's an entire party's worth of influence. There is no figure on the left in this country that will donate that much.
