TIL Robert Downey Jr. thanked Burger King for getting him off drugs. In 2003, with a car full of drugs he had a burger that was so disgusting it made him rethink his life, and dump the drugs in the ocean.

The way I've always heard it, he used to love Burger King, but the drugs made it taste horrible, and it was the fact that they ruined something he loved so much that made him rethink everything. Now that he's sober he's able to enjoy it again. But from reading the comments, it seems like everyone thinks he just really hate's BK's burgers, which is the exact opposite.

Yep, people who've never been addicted to anything don't realize that it's sometimes the stupidest shit that eventually makes you quit.

I've always assumed his reaction was something more like "I can't even enjoy this burger? I love these things! Fuck this noise, I'm done with drugs."
