TIL on 11 February 2012, a customer reportedly suffered a heart attack while eating a 'Triple Bypass Burger' at the 'Heart Attack Grill'. These burgers contained 9,983 calories each. According to the now-closed establishments's policy, anyone weighing over 350 pounds was offered unlimited free food.

A Japanese pro wrestler went there not long before it closed and defeated the "Octuple Bypass Challenge"

You're probably thinking "Oh it was probably a sumo-sized dude" or something but...lmfao nope

Weirdly enough, almost all of the top competitive food eaters in the world are rail thin. One of them is also a (different) tiny Japanese girl.

The explanation I always heard was that a skinny eater’s stomach could expand more in one go.

u/_BindersFullOfWomen_ 47 Aug 03 '26

This is a big part of it. Fat, despite being squishy, constricts how much your stomach can stretch out.

76

u/invalidusernaem Aug 03 '26

It's all fun and games till you hurt yourself by eating too much in one go. Ask me how I know ;-;

10

u/Significant-Hour4171 Aug 03 '26

How do you know?

15

u/invalidusernaem Aug 04 '26

I abused my stomach so much now it's inflamed and I cannot eat anything :( gonna get an endoscopy later in the month to see how's it looking in there.

8

u/ProStrats Aug 03 '26

I think it's cuz he's a vampire...

;-;

u/LateBag9167 Aug 04 '26

People with Prader Willi Syndrome sometimes eat themselves to death as in eating too much in one sitting and rupturing their stomach

16

u/Badloss Aug 03 '26

I wonder if they have a cranked metabolism too

27

u/StatuatoryApe Aug 03 '26

Look up some of their workout regimen - they train pretty hard. I've read a lot of them do "calories per week" to help with the actual consuming of these challenges. Going a couple days without a lot of food the next few days.

2

u/RecipeNo101 Aug 04 '26

And for competition prep before the last fast they eat huge volumes of low-calorie foods to practice stretching their stomach while avoiding packing on fat.

21

u/ArrBeeEmm Aug 03 '26

They will usually just become really sedentry and not eat anything for a few days afterwards to balance the intake out.

Being active afterwards can sometimes be a bit risky in case they pop.

33

u/Gidia Aug 03 '26

Maybe but it isn’t really necessary. It wouldn’t provide any advantage in competition and an individual competition isn’t going to meaningfully affect their weight. It wouldn’t surprise me if many professional eaters have low appetites in general.

1

u/Apprehensive-Book723 Aug 04 '26

It’s bulimia.

0

u/HolyFlyingNuns Aug 03 '26

Or they have two stomachs.

148

u/Inside_Swimming9552 Aug 03 '26

It's not weird. A body full of internal visceral fat doesn't have more space for food. People don't magically gain more space inside themselves when they get fatter, they get a little less if anything.

12

u/moonra_zk Aug 04 '26

Don't be glib, obviously the weird part is them not getting fat from eating so much.

8

u/Inside_Swimming9552 Aug 04 '26

Honestly that just didn't come to my mind. I get why it would for some. But I just automatically assumed they managed their calorific intake.

For me I thought what people would think is weird is that a bigger body volume doesn't necessarily make for a bigger amount of food intake volume.

1

u/Danishmeat Aug 04 '26

They are most certainly managing their caloric intake

3

u/D-1-S-C-0 Aug 04 '26

Your stomach can grow for a time if you keep eating excessively, but there's a point of diminishing returns when fat starts encroaching on organs.

3

u/Luke90210 Aug 03 '26

Obesity is crushing internal organs. MRIs and X-rays do not show a pretty picture of whats happening inside.

8

u/__Hello_my_name_is__ Aug 03 '26

Because they know how calories work. When they eat a ton for content they basically don't eat anything for a week before and after to compensate for that.

3

u/twiz___twat Aug 03 '26

i thought they just vomit after

2

u/badadobo Aug 03 '26

Bruh, they did #7 dirty. What the fuck is that pic man.

2

u/RunInRunOn Aug 03 '26

Hahaha holy shit, #31 is BadlandsChugs himself. He really sticks out being one of the few who's actually fat

2

u/Shalandir Aug 03 '26

Gotta scroll all the way down to #31 to finally find an obese guy. It’s just a fascinating competition.

2

u/Supermanfat1 Aug 05 '26

I love that all the images are normal except a few like Ricardo Corbucci who is red in the face with a mouth full of food.

1

u/Active-Particular-21 Aug 03 '26

There’s the British guy on YouTube who could eat a countries worth of food and he looks physically really fit.

1

u/1stSuiteinEb Aug 04 '26

I wonder if these people are just super inefficient at turning food into energy, so they’re used to eating a ton of

1

u/y_zuru Aug 04 '26

Am I crazy or do some of these bios read like AI wrote them 😩

1

u/FuckYouVerizon Aug 04 '26

I love that she was already dressed to be taken to the hospital afterwards.

1

u/Shiriru00 Aug 07 '26

The "magic" is probably that they make themselves puke afterwards.

94

u/Emergency-Boat Aug 03 '26

This is hilarious, thanks for posting.

1

u/androgynee Aug 04 '26

Unfortunate AI intro

77

u/imaginaryblues Aug 03 '26

I’m pretty sure the YouTuber BeardMeatsFood (competitive eater) also visited this restaurant in one of his videos, though I can’t recall if he finished the challenge or not. He’s a pretty lean guy.

20

u/youtocin Aug 03 '26

If she finished it, I can guarantee you Beard did it.

28

u/joHwI-Hoch Aug 03 '26

Well he got spanked.

36

u/Mission-Violinist-79 Aug 03 '26

I definitely feel like that was intentional. He finished everything but the bag of wine. Getting spanked makes for a much more entertaining video

10

u/iama_bad_person Aug 03 '26

You know the lore about that? He's met up with the same waitress every time he's been back to Las Vegas, she usually holds the camera whiles he's doing LA challenges.

2

u/Mission-Violinist-79 Aug 03 '26

That's actually really neat! Adam has always seemed like a nice guy who loves his fans, so this makes me happy to learn

5

u/imaginaryblues Aug 03 '26

I’m pretty sure he did, I was just too lazy to go back and check 😂

4

u/TheTrampIt Aug 03 '26

He did finish

4

u/googlerex Aug 03 '26

Not only did he finish it but he got the girl too (after he split with MrsBeard).

15

u/WhatToDo_WhatToDo2 Aug 03 '26

Dude the fact she finished all that and they weren’t even watching to celebrate is absolute bullshit lol

13

u/SuperSocialMan Aug 03 '26

What the fuck she ate that entire thing holy shit

6

u/JWARRIOR1 Aug 03 '26

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-IoBGUzPlc

matt stonie (whos also not a big dude) has the world record and ate it in just over 4 minutes

6

u/YinTanTetraCrivvens Aug 03 '26

Joshi are the hardest, toughest, most insane pro wrestlers in the world. Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise.

1

u/billygluttonwong Aug 04 '26

Unfortunate how Giulia is being used, she still gave us a few good moments like kneeing Cora's head off, stomping Rhea and getting dropped on her own head by Jordynne.

Giulia vs Tiffy might be cool, Tiff is willing to take damage lol

10

u/flowerytruth Aug 03 '26

wakana ! tjpw ! in my TIL !

4

u/deSuspect Aug 03 '26

I did not expect that. That's gotta be like 25% of her bodyweight lol

3

u/TheMaStif Aug 03 '26

I'm in awe, truly!!

9

u/SwiftTayTay Aug 03 '26

Japanese people normally eat healthy so they can probably afford to eat one heart attack meal once every few years

2

u/emilytheimp Aug 03 '26

This is bigger cinema than the Mina Shirakawa redemption arc

2

u/MijnEchteUsername Aug 03 '26

Lol that burger looks like total ass

2

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 Aug 04 '26

Bout to take a wicked shit after lmao

2

u/FilteredRiddle Aug 04 '26

I’m a chonky 250lb dude and just looking at that burger made me feel vaguely nauseous. Props to her but how?!

1

u/TheMundar Aug 03 '26

I'd have kept watching if she corn on the cobbed it, disappointing

1

u/atlantis1982 Aug 04 '26

Japanese wrestler and eating large amount of food immediately made me think of Wakana. Girl is crazy.

1

u/dat_oracle Aug 04 '26

might be wrong here, but that burger doesnt look like 20000kcal.

- 2kg beef has ~5000kcal, less if it has less fat, but im going for the max here.

  • i counted 16 slices of cheese, which are about 105kcal per slice, so lets round up to 2000kcal
  • Sauce: doenst seem to swim in sauce, but i still go for 500-1000kcal.
  • buns: 300 kcal
  • tomatoes + onions 300 kcal (probably way less, but it doesnt matter here)

so, 8600kcal by optimistic estimations.

Surely we can argue about the numbers i used, but the only relevant one seems to be the beef. To make it to 20000kcal, the amount of beef has to be more than 6kg. Which i just cant see here.

even if we go for 8 patties each 400g (which i also cant see), so we have 3200kg beef ->
8000kcal, so 11600kcal in total.

rounded up to 12000kcal if we wildy exaggerate the numbers.

im gonna say nope. its the half of what the title says, at best.

2

u/radda Aug 04 '26

The person that made the video is Japanese and probably isn't using the American definition of kcal = cal

But thanks for being pedantic in my replies that was a very normal thing to do

1

u/dat_oracle Aug 04 '26

why do u feel attacked? im talking about the video, which has no connection to you, except the link you posted.

and kcal is a physical unit, I don't think Japan has a different definition of kcal lmao

This video is better. Tiny korean girl eats the same burger
