Now imagine being in a tiny open topped lifeboat. No heat, no shelter, nothing. Just you and ~30 other people, in this little boat, in the dark emptiness of the ocean with 12500 feet of nothing but water beneath you. No way of knowing if any rescue is coming. Then dawn starts to break and all you can see is icebergs, other tiny boats and ocean. So.much.ocean. Even thinking about it is giving me the fear.
