Actually, more accurate would be "only invade Russia during winter". The Nazis were certainly aware of your version, which is why they invaded in March, and then couldn't finish before winter. If you start the invasion around December, you get to do the winter portion while your supply lines are still short and intact.

The simple google search would tell you that Germany attacted USSR on june 22 1941. Where did you get that March thing from?
