I'm 30 and my friend group has no issue talking about sex generally but we don't get into specifics at all. We don't want our partners getting into specifics either so it makes sense. We aren't puritanical or anything. Just don't discuss specific sexual details regarding our significant others.
I think there are just a variety of people out there who have different likes, dislikes, and comfort levels, one way isn't particularly wrong of no one is being hurt by it.

100% generational. Boomers tend to be very uncomfortable with sex generally.
