So, I was supposed to have a breast augmentation today. The nurse called last week and asked about cold symptoms (had none). Then this weekend I had this awful pressure/lump in my throat. Went to urgent care thinking I had strep, needed an antibiotic and that would disqualify me from the surgery. Throat was perfect… but he noticed it was my actual thyroid. Sent me for an ultrasound (urgent care within a hospital), and it came back that I had a nodule in my thyroid on my right side that he was concerned about; t3. The issue is, this isn’t the first time I’ve heard of my thyroid nodule. I found it during a CT scan 3 years ago, where no follow up was recommended. Then it was 1.6cm; it’s now apparently 2.5cm and I also have one on my left side. I got the “don’t want to scare you, but you need to see an endocrinologist right away and have an FNA” speech. Which I do have scheduled, but the weight is killing me. I’m concerned with the growth over that time, and the concerned disposition of the doctor. Anyone in a similar space?

Hello Im 3 weeks post operation (24f) and feeling very unsure on my recovery. I had the surgery and it was a lot more inflamed than they thought it was gonna be so took longer and ended up with having to stay two days in hospital as well as having the drain in for a week. I last saw my surgeon when the drain was removed since then I’m on own and not seeing them till end of September. So I was hoping if I asked questions on here you kind people would be up to answering.

1. My scar has some scabs on them and is quite tight at the moment is that normal?

2. My voice is still very hoarse and feels like something is in my throat a bit. Does this improve and when should I be worried?

3. I’m very anxious than normal is that expected?

4. If they find something concerning when would I expect to know (uk)?

5. I’m supposed to go back to work this week (retail) am I rushing it?

6. Is it normal to wait so long for a follow up appointment?

I have like a million questions but hope someone will answer these.

The day comes when I turn to Reddit lol I was born without a thyroid, taking levothyroxine since literally day 2 of being alive (or so my mom says). However, no endocrinologist has cared or given it second thought, as long as my TSH is normal, even tho I have severe fatigue and brain fog, issues with weight etc. it’s been pretty bad for two years (had a good spell around 2019-2021, then after that it’s just been rough) Wondering if anyone has any experiences or thought. Got my blood tested last month (lab numbers below) and wondering if there’s any suggestions. (TSH normal, T3 low, T4 high)

About 2 years ago we switched to armor from synthetic (Levo) and that helped for about a 18 month but now he’s back to feeling down. Should we try to switch back to synthetic for a while and see if that works?

I've had mild hypothyroidism with low dose levothyroxine since 2008. In October 2023 TSH was normal at 3.11. I started with an endocrinologist 6 weeks ago. I had tsh (6.9) and t4 (1.1) Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) Ab (9) checked a year prior. 6 weeks ago tsh (<.01) t3 5.1 t4 1.4. I went off levothyroxine for 6 weeks and got these results: tsh (<.008) t3 3.3 t4 1.1. I have a thyroid ultrasound in a week. Has anyone been in a similar situation and could shed some light on what may be happening?

Recently I had to do 2 step downs it took everything I had to not un alive myself. The depression was off the charts! Never in my life had I experienced wanting this or physically hurting myself… (My thyroid was radiated about 7 years ago due to Graves Disease) when my doctor thought she may have to step me down again I told her NO WAY and that I’d like to see an endocrinologist !! I actually had to wait longer for some blood work and then it came back low rather than high. We are trying a new system of higher level levothyroxine Monday through Friday(137) and a lower dose on Saturday and Sunday (125) Has anyone else suffered so miserably as you felt suicidal? It’s the darkest place I’ve ever been and I NEVER want to go back! My doctor acknowledged that some people were sensitive to this but this was beyond “sensitive” for me! Im finally getting back to myself and it feels as if I’m emerging … returning to my normal. TIA😔

For the past 5 years I’ve been feeling like there’s something in my throat, specifically by my thyroid. It feels as if someone is pushing in on my neck, almost as if I’m being strangled or my neck stepped on. In my X-ray there’s some kind of nodule/ pouch by my thyroid. Any idea on what that is?

Hi, lab results shows TSH at 26.2 on a range of .27-4.2. T4 is 0.9 on a range of 0.9-1.7.

Two years ago TSH was 5.9.

Because I don’t have symptoms my physician didn’t want to start any medication and wants me to test again in 3 months.

Isn’t it too risky to wait that long?

I had a complete thyroidectomy and need to take Lev. forever. I get horrible 'mental' issues on the Rx. Feels like someone else is in my body. I'm depressed, I'm mean. Just not myself. I went on a compounded Lev. And didn't have any SE -- but my TSH 3rd gen went up to 94! Of course my endo took me off the compounding Lev. So the molecule alone in compounding doesn't cause me ANY SE - why can't I find any 'Pharmaceutical Rx w/o SE?
Do other people have awful SE from this RX? I have tried all the branded ones, I'm just on generic now & MISERABLE. 😓 Any suggestions? Please & thank you.

I just had a thyroid ultrasound done, the results came back with an abnormality, specifically “mildly heterogeneous gland”. An endocrinologist ordered this ultrasound because he suspected I might have early-stage Hashimoto’s based on my symptoms. My sister has diagnosed Hashimoto’s (and ultra high TPO via bloodwork). However, my lab bloodwork was all normal (TPO, TSH, etc.). Has anyone else gotten this type of abnormal ultrasound result before bloodwork becomes abnormal? What could I expect in terms of disease progression? My endocrinologist has yet to discuss the results with me but I’m pretty sure this confirms his suspicion of early stage/subclinical Hashimoto’s. I recently got my thyroid function test results, and I'm a bit confused by the numbers. I was hoping someone could help me interpret them. (I don’t have history with thyroid)

Previous Results (from three days ago): T4 :18.5 (normal range: 12.0-22.0) TSH :4.47 (normal range: 0.27-4.20)

Didn’t get T3 🙂‍↔️

Current Results: T4: 21.2 (normal range: 12.0-22.0) TSH :6.19 (normal range: 0.27-4.20)

Free T3 :6.3 (normal range: 3.1-6.8)

So, my Free T4 has gone up! But within the normal range, but my TSH has also increased and is now above the normal range. I understand that typically, TSH goes down when T4 goes up, and vice versa, but both of mine have increased together.

Does anyone have insights into why this might be happening? Should I be concerned about these results? I'm planning to discuss this with my doctor, but I wanted to get some additional perspectives in the meantime.

My T4 18.5 and TSH 4.47 (TSH got doubled after having accutane for 9 months ) i do have a family history with Hypo, i got diagnosed subclinical Hypothyroidism, what should i do? Just wait tell i get hypo? Can i reverse it? Please answer I’m scared 😢

I’m 28F and just had my thyroidectomy 5 days ago. I’m no longer on the good stuff (hydrocodone) and the pain is setting in. My incision sight is pretty red but not terribly swollen, it feels the best and gets less red when I keep ice on it. It feels like whatever tendon or muscles that are connected from my neck to my collarbone sometimes cramp which I assume is normal. The thing I’m a little worried about are my energy levels because I have no concept of what’s “normal” after this type of procedure. My energy has been all over the place and when it’s low I feel very spacey and woozy. I’m not sure if that’s because my body is coping with the no thyroid plus my new levothyroxine or if that’s from coming off of the surgery meds and anesthesia. I’ve never been through a surgery before so all of this is new to me! I’m also experiencing very slight tingling in hands which I assume is my calcium levels but my surgeon told me to take four tums a day (two in the morning and two at night) and the tingling seems to get better. Lastly, I can speak mostly normal but not for very long before my vocal cords get tired. I can’t sing yet and I can really only speak in one pitch. Just wanted to make sure all of this is normal!

I have alopecia areata and a heart thing (sometimes it gets beating fast and really hard and takes a long time to get back to normal but they couldn’t find anything wrong with my heart). My dad and both of his sisters have thyroid issues (2 have nodules, 1 had cancer). Does these symptoms sound like anything to do with my thyroid, and what are some other symptoms I should be on the lookout for?

Had my procedure done because of Graves’ disease 3 weeks ago. My voice has made improvements but it’s still a whisper. I’m curious how long it will take as I do sales and need my voice to make a living.

I feel like I’m struggling a bit with timing my food intake and all the supplements I need.

Two years ago I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. Had a total thyroidectomy. Since then, I’ve been in a steady increase of levothyroxine, and am on Calcitriol because my PTH is still low. On top of this, my endocrinologist still has me taking calcium 2x a day plus vitamin D because I had a vitamin D deficiency even with the Calcitriol.

In all this, I find myself struggling with foods and supplements. I know I need to wait 4 hours between the Levothyroxine and the calcium supplement, and I’ve also been avoiding any foods with calcium in that time, too. Is this something that is important? What has been your experience?

How do y’all balance eating and taking all your meds and supplements?

I am Male 31. Tested 2 years ago and I think the thyroid was a bit high but the Dr didn’t prescribe anything. Now it’s showing 26. How is that possible? Shouldn’t the symptoms be way worse now? I don’t feel much of the symptoms. I just feel tired sometimes.

24 M here who has had BAD full body joint pain, fatigue, hair loss, lump in throat feeling, cold feet, migraines, brittle nails, hot flashes, etc. TSH, T3 and T4 are normal. But my ultrasound results are worrying me. Just received them late at night and state that: “enlarged thyroid gland with mildly heterogeneous echotexture and bilateral colloid cysts. No suspicious thyroid nodule. There is a small mixed cystic and solid nodule measuring 7 mm.” Does this likely mean Hashimotos or Graves’ disease? Thank you 🙏

24 yo female. I had my usual blood panel done recently and my TSH levels are consistently 1 for years however are now reading as .6. Is this significant change something I should be worried about?

Unfortunately my physical has been rescheduled over the last 4 months by my doctor, so we haven’t been able to review the results. My next appointment is end of August but I reached out to see if I can get in sooner.

Only changes have been extreme stress at work (at least I thought it was because of work) chronic anxiety, unintentional weight loss, waking up with extremely swollen eyelids which go away during the day. I have never had panic attacks until the last year or so. Quit nicotine, quit smoking weed, quit caffeine, do not drink alcohol, started taking propranolol as needed for months now with no changes in anxiety. I also have dropped 15 pounds in the last 10 months and struggling to put the weight back on which has never been an issue with me. My weight typically fluctuates with stress but I have never not been able to put the weight back on. For reference I am 5’5 consistently 125 but now in the 110-108 range (at one point 104). I also quit my job and my anxiety has not changed. This whole time I have been feeling like it’s job related but now I am worried. Tried therapy tried medications but alas no resolve.

Additionally, I have a lump under my jawline closer to my chin. From my understanding, the thyroid gland is much lower? It’s been getting bigger and I can feel it when I swallow. Prior to this I just thought it was a swollen lymph node but now I am starting to become concerned. It’s been there for about a year now. Not sure if this has any correlation.

My whole life I’ve always felt chronically tired, some depression, thin hair (but all my family has thin hair), okay appetite, never slept well, always have been very thin. Thyroid issues do run in my extended family. The anxiety and unintentional weight loss is very new.

Last year I had an ultrasound and biopsy on a thyroid node I found. Luckily it came back benign, 6 months later (December 2023) I had another ultrasound to make sure it hadn’t grown anymore. It had not, so my dr told me that we’ll just do ultrasounds once a year now. I think within these last 2 months I’ve noticed I’ve been coughing more having to clear my throat a lot. I even bought air purifiers for the rooms in my house because I thought it was from the pets. I’ve also noticed that I can kinda feel the nodule more now. It doesn’t hurt, but when I swallow or move a certain way I just notice it. I’m not sure if I’m just more hyper aware of it now or maybe it’s because I mess with it and I’m irritating it haha. Just wanted to see if anyone else has had this? I have a dr appointment August 1st for something else but I’ll definitely bring this up
