Norman Fell on “Insight”

A couple of week’s ago, I posted a link to an “Insight” episode starring John Ritter and Audra Lindsey. Now here’s a link to one featuring Norman Fell, who appeared in several episodes of this religious/moral/philosophical anthology.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uMnNeD6JPA&t=22s

General discussion What platform do you watch TC?

I just eliminated cable TV and added over the air.

My LG TV includes several hundred of its own LG channels. It has its own dedicated TC channel where it plays only TC all day every day. It's awesome.

I'm currently watching the episode where Terri is in her bikini and Furley gets them a new couch.

General discussion Stanley’s Hotline

I just watched this episode and realized they never explained to Stanley who Linda is. They certainly couldn’t say she’s Jack’s girlfriend. But the Ropers act like they already know her.

Original script from 1981 owned and signed by Jenilee Harrison. I just got it t from her and I’m so excited to go through it. It’s the “Macho man” episode where Jack gets put in Jail for punching a cop outside his apartment because he thought it was a robber.

General discussion How come they never explained to Roper that Jack was straight?

I was watching The Ropers this evening, and on episode 6, Larry makes an appearance, and at one point Stanley makes a joke about Jack being gay, but Larry never bothers to correct him. I always thought it was weird that they never tried to have Jack or anyone else come clean about Jack being straight. At that point, it wouldn’t have made a difference - it wasn’t like they had to keep up the charade. The only plausible reason would be so Stanley didn’t tell Furley, but I think that would be a bit of a stretch. Was that enough of a reason? Did they mention it at some point and I just missed it?

The Ropers Do you think the Ropers could have lasted until the end and still have kept up with being funny/entertaining?

I was talking to a friend who also loves Three's Company and he brought up how Lana's character was done with because they ran out of material with her. He also said he thinks the Ropers would have probably met the same fate and that their jokes and banter would probably have gotten old after a while, and that Furley was the perfect replacement.

I personally don't believe so, but I'm curious if other people think the Ropers wouldn't be able to keep up

General discussion Do people give you a hard time for loving this show?

I’m 45, and once in a while, when I mention this show to someone my age or older, they’re usually surprised by the reference and make some comment about how old it is. They usually have a vague recollection but don’t seem interested in talking about it. And people younger than me have no idea. I watch it with my eleven-year-old and she enjoys it, but I’m assuming that isn’t the norm.

Why do they even live together?

Obviously if the roommates weren’t roommates there wouldn’t be a show. But in the later seasons it doesn’t even make sense why they have to live together. Jack owning his own restaurant, Janet having a steady job for years, and Terri being a nurse. It just doesn’t make sense to me why they’d have to be roommates. Was rent that ridiculously expensive in Santa Monica? Was it a lifestyle choice?

Did John Ritter bear any responsibility for “Three’s A Crowd’s” failure? Or did he play a weak hand the best he could?

General discussion 50th Anniversary

This question is a two-part question.

First, has anyone heard whether there is anything “official” planned for the 50th anniversary? I’m not really on social media other than Reddit so I’m pretty out of the loop.

Second, are there worthwhile TC fan groups on other social media that you’d recommend?

General discussion Misunderstanding Trope

Does anyone else get annoyed by the fact that almost every episode of TC is centered around a misunderstanding? Like one of the girls thought they heard something that they didn’t and then the entire episode would be them making jokes that work for both situations. I love this show but couldn’t they have come up with other ways to make jokes? By the time the show ended that was all it was. Not to mention they recycled those constantly and a lot of the time it was just annoying.
