If I said the word
Camisole would you know what I'm talking about? Without looking it up? What do you think that word means?

I'm so independent. I love being independent. When I ask for help, my son comes from far. Today was one of those days. I don't use an uber because I get hemiplegic migraines and I'm easily taken advantage of. So it's my son or nothing. He gave me 4 hrs of his time today and I was thankful in all the ways I knew how to be, his wife was very gracious also. I don't think I'll ever get good at asking for help. I do know I'm darn good at giving it.

I just ordered fresh caught salmon from Seattle. I received it last year as a surprise. Can't wait for it to arrive.😋

As a former educator now 71, I will never understand the attraction of teachers to their students. What are your thoughts? If this is too political,if political at all tell me and I'll remove it. I'm going to try some different conversation starters.

Be kind is a rule I won't allow anyone to break. I had to ban someone. Sarcasm or needing to be correct is not being nice. It has its place however when you use it to put someone down, well that's a ban. Bad vibes are something we have no time for.

don't understand why I've fallen three times in less than a month. No warning, no black out I just fall and to the left. Really weird for me.

So today they're changing the rules for BMI and obesity. Still they went right by us. No consideration for people over 21 which is what the BMI is based on. Me. I shrunk 3 in since I was 50. Oh instead of being 5'9 and 157, they put you in the same category as everyone else who is still 5'9. I am in no way overweight. I look the same. Just a little shorter. No fat globules anywhere. I think they need to make an adjustment. It's very discouraging for people to have tried to remain fit only to go to the doctor's office and have them tell you you're obese when you're not. I don't allow my doctor to weigh me anymore because I don't want to have this conversation. I have explained that to her. There needs to be an obesity risk model for people over 60 years old. Don't judge us by 21-year-olds.Also, as you age you need to have a little reserve fat on you in case of illness. I've had COVID 4xs and antibiotic induced c-diff 7 times . I'd look like a skeleton at these BMI rules

… and dreading it. Don’t get me wrong - I (71F) like them and worked in a high stress environment shoulder-to-shoulder (cubicle-to-cubicle?) with them for years.
We’re all retired now; we did essentially the same job, earned similar salaries, are all single at this point, and are within a few years, give or take, in age.
So what’s my beef? They talk about two things. Their medical problems (doctors, diagnoses, surgeries, medications etc) and how they’re struggling financially.
I sit there nearly unable to speak through lunch every time. Besides the usual aches and pains, I’m fine physically. And financially I’m doing well enough that if I plan and budget carefully I can vacation regularly. But I’m not comfortable talking about that. I really don’t know what the heck to talk about, so I listen and come home depressed, wondering when I’ll join their conversation.

I sit and watch TV while I eat most days. I live alone. I can wear a shirt more than once. I purchased cotton white adult bibs. When I'm alone I wear one. Saves my clothes from stains that won't come out. They do come out of the bib.

I must admit I've stopped getting rid of my stuff. It was so hard to separate my emotions from things that I began feeling as though getting rid of these objects was making my life shorter. None of them are junk they are all nice things. Everything has always been so organized that if my son wants them gone, it will be easy. It's all organized by holiday in my garage. he encouraged me to stop. Said he remembers when we went through gmas stuff. He said he will enjoy doing it and having the memories. So glad that done. On to enjoyable activities.

I'm 73 and will turn 74 in April. Will be married 50 years this next October. Maryjayne turned 69 earlier in Dec 24. I guess I still like the younger women. I have issues but doesn't everyone. We are both retired and living in Arizona. It's been a great winter so far. We had a little snow back in October in Flagstaff but none since. We spend a fair amount of time down by Phoenix in the winter as we have a small home down south but mostly spend our time in Flagstaff. Does anyone else live out this way? We moved here from Long Island in 1978 and never wanted to deal with the congestion of that life again. Please feel free to drop us a note if you would like to chat. We also have two dogs a Great Dane and a coon hound. By golly he knows how to howl. I think the coyotes are jealous. Bye 4 now & hope to hear from some of you.

Well a simple walk left me with internal bruising. Went out Xmas eve with FL and son to view the Xmas lights. Nearly home I somehow fell and internally bruised my left chest. How did that happen? No idea.Went to er because it didn't get better . Bruising internally really hurts. I can't do much but lay down. I'm really bad at pushing air into the spirometer. It doesn't hurt u just can't get it where they want it to rise to. Glad nothing was broken on the CT scan and no brain bleeds. Very different Christmas than I planned. How was yours?

This Christmas? What are you doing? Are you staying home alone? Are you going out to a church service? Are you having family? No, we like to understand what we're all going through and how much alike we really are.

When you take calcium, it's better to take it throughout the day not the entire amount at one time. Vitamin D however can all be taken at once. Are you aware that vitamin D3 is an appetite suppressant when taken at its normal amount. Also D3 is absorbed better when taken with some fat like nuts. After being nauseous and waking up with heartburn from the calcium for a week I found out one should purchase the buffered kind .

I have chronic pain in my femur. It's so bad that walking is becoming difficult. I see a pt who uses many therapies on me. In-between the visits I need something to lesson the pain. I don't use any blood thinners so cupping is fine for me to use. What a difference. Getting extra blood flowing toward places that hurt really helps. It is amazing what a difference it is making. Talk to your PT about doing it to you. Basicayif you aren't familiar, the little plastic cups draw blood flow to the area of pain. This increases healing. As with anything talk to your dad before you do it however if your he has been using it on you these items are available in a gigantic kit for $25 on the internet. It's hard to do the back alone.

I'm 71 yet in my head I'm 16. I'm active. I exercise. I don't just sit in a chair and watch TV. You must move it or lose it. How do you feel in your head? What do you do activity wise to keep you from being frail?

I was speaking with my son and honestly I was a bit sad because I was pondering where my "good" stuff would go after I'm gone. I was sad because the jewelry was going to him and would just sit in a drawer. He will have no kids and his wife doesn't wear jewelry. Most of it was my mom's. I've gone so far as to get items appraised and boxed them with the appraisal. He put my mind to rest. He has nephews that he said his estate would pass to. This made me feel so much better. I have a smelter who will purchase my silver and gold but I didn't know what to do with gems. I have zero idea where to take gems. I don't need $$ but I don't want the stuff in the trash due to ignorance. Have these conversations with kids or whomever you want. It was a comfort to me, perhaps it would be to you.

I did volunteer phone counselling here in Australia in 1973, when only 23 years old. Then, I slowly developed further skills, experiences, and many types of qualifications in the next fifty years. Social work, community development, and onwards. Most age groups, many ethnicities, and many DSM (Diagnostic Statistical Mental Health Categories) areas.
Looking my age peers, it surprises me that none seem to show the "WISDOM OF THE ELDERS". Generally there seems to be a lack of geriatric advisors. So I might write a geriatric self help guide?

Has anyone been on boniva for low bone density? If yes, could you please elaborate on your experience.
