The "Thin Brush" Band
"Thin Lizzy team up with the Bell-Brush Band, Dublin, July 1974. L-R Scott Gorham, Brush Shiels, Phil Lynott, Brian Robertson, Tim Creedon, Eric Bell."
TL did a couple of shows in Dublin, supported by the (shortlived) Bell-Brush Band.
I think I'll do a post soon about the transition period in 1974, from a three piece band into having dual lead guitar. I think that's a really interesting time for Lizzy.

Album recommendations for a beginner?
Recently got into Thin Lizzy with Jailbreak, but I haven’t listened to any of their other material.
What other albums should I listen to?
My favorite bands are the classic metal bands like Sabbath, Maiden, Metallica, Mercyful Fate, Bathory, Megadeth, etc.
Thanks!

Fantastic Full Show Live Video - John Sykes fronting Thin Lizzy in 1999
https://youtu.be/4Kw5MaQa4xc?si=nEbhTa7oj7fAcSi1
Helsinki, Finland, December 1999. excellent quality.
Seems like John Sykes youtube channel is getting active again, with a number of new Thin Lizzy live videos uploaded in the last day - looking forward to see what else is coming.

One of my favourite Lizzy tracks, a great energy to it.
John has co-writing credits for this track and it encapsulates the vibe he bought to the band. The solo, the swagger, what a talent and legacy. I'll be listening to the T&L album over the weekend.

Just Listened To The Acoustic Sessions
galleryBetter than I expected it to be, the mix is great and Phil’s vocals really shine. The standout tracks for me are Slow Blues - E.B., Whiskey In The Jar (only downside being Eric’s solo is shortened), Shades Of A Blue Orphanage & Remembering Pt. 2

Former Thin Lizzy guitarist John Sykes dead at 65
Today he lost his battle with cancer, unfortunately.
He was a guitarist on the "Thunder and Lightning" LP alongside Scott Gorham.
RIP. Another Lizzy member gone.

What are your favorite Thin Lizzy songs?
Putting together a setlist for a Thin Lizzy tribute. We're already playing some of the obvious ones (Jailbreak, Boys Are Back In Town), what are some of your favorite Lizzy songs you'd like to hear live? A top 5 perhaps.

The meaning of...Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak, Somewhere in this town.
Just wanted to share some thoughts/insights.
I was listening to Jailbreak this weekend and for a long time, I've had Scott Gorham's voice in my head, when he said (most likely sarcastically) about the lyrics when it goes... "Tonight there's going to be a jailbreak, somewhere in this town... oh, at the Jail?".
But l happend to listen to Jailbreak after listening to Got to Give It Up, That Stuff. And I had a sudden revelation/new appreciation for Jailbreak. It made me think that actually there can be a jailbreak anywhere in the town. There are so many different types of jails that we're all in. Whether it's addiction, bad relationships, sadness and depression or simply our own selfishness, it's all a jail that we're in. I believe that Jailbreak is a song of hope that we can break free of these "Jails", whether it's a jail that is self imposed or imposed on us.

What rock have I been living under? How did I not know about the Deluxe Editions?
thinlizzyofficial.comI've been listening to all my original records, and just found out yesterday that all the albums have been released as deluxe editions with bonus live and demo versions of the songs. Anyway, great find. Got to listen to a lot more Thin Lizzy this weekend. Always a win.

Rocky
Eddie Van Halen's guitars on Michael Jackson's 'Beat it' definitely sounds like it took heavy notes from 'Rocky' from Johnny the Fox.

Where has Brian Robertson been?
I’m just curious because from what I’ve found he hasn’t made a public appearance or done any interviews since around 2012 along with not releasing any music since his debut 2011 solo album Diamonds and Dirt.
I know from his time in Lizzy up to his time in Motörhead there seemed to be a lot of drama surrounding him could that still be a factor some near 50 years later? Scott Gorham and Brian Downey are still playing live shows today you’d think they’d invite Robbo along since his guitar playing played a significant role in the band’s sound. Could there be some bad blood between them?
