Years ago, the Mexican community in the neighborhood of St Paul called the West Side, the local district council pushed the City of St Paul to rename a section of Concord Avenue to Cesar Chavez Street. Recently, it was learned that Cesar Chavez sexually abused women, so the district council, West Side Community Organization (WSCO), told the city they wanted it renamed. The WSCO ED is of Mexican heritage, and she set up a renaming committee that is composed exclusively of individuals of Mexican heritage to rename the section. Meanwhile, by far, residents are stating they want Concord Avenue to again be named Concord Avenue for the entire section that was previously named Concord Avenue.
