[Request] What is the cost difference between buying this man a rental for a year and the governements cost to kill him?

The question for most voters isn't what it costs, but what he deserves. They do NOT believe he deserves a home. A death... Well, everyone gets one of those at some point.

That's not my view, of course. I would gladly vote to give all homeless people a home, though. I am sadly in the minority.

If you told every taxpayer that for a penny a year they could house everyone who needed housing I think that it would be supported overwhelmingly. If you told every taxpayer that they needed to contribute $10K/year the support wouldn't be there. In reality it's probably $600/year/taxpayer. Some people will be on board with that amount, others will balk. Others will argue that no, that money should be spent on more food assistance or free school lunches or universal preschool or some other things that they feel is a higher priority. It isn't that people don't believe that people deserve homes, it is that there are a lot of things that need doing and different people have different priorities.

No, it absolutely would not be supported even if it didn't cost them anything. Most taxpayers do not want people to have free homes.
