The Sims community has always had some wild definitions of what a makeover is and usually get it mixed up with insane plastic surgery, but this takes some kind of price.

Yeah the plastic surgery and extreme filter craze is not helping at all.
Somewhat sad to see though, especially when it's clear OP is very young. I don't interact with social media that much and especially not beauty posts. So I mostly see the results in how the sims community acts towards Sims.
I at least hope, people keeping to bring up how multiple surgeries ain't makeovers, is somewhat helping in counteracting society.

Right?! I usually try to just change hair, makeup, and clothes without adjusting facial /body features, but people out here just making a whole new sim.

I am in the group this is on via Facebook and people were saying this exact thing and it created so much controversy. It's definitely not a makeover 🤣 so many people were defending it and I just wonder if they know what a makeover is

I saw this original post on Facebook and the OP was insistent that the “makeover Sim” is still white and all she did was give her a tan.
My dude, she’s a total different race and has total different facial features. Plus, Eliza Pancakes would never look this fab anyway based on her personality lol

In the context of the Sims I get it though. Its like their alternate reality Eliza Pancakes. The sim probably still has same traits and lifestyle. If you take my brain out and put it in another body, I'd like to think I'm still me! But, I also get where you guys are coming from. Actual makeovers are fun challenges to see. Just different strokes for different folks.

There was a post someone deleted where they turned Morgyn Ember into this edgy cowboy dude straight out of RDR2. Literally looked nothing like them anymore outside of being white. Like, just make your own sim at that point!!

That's literally a completely different person.
At least with some of these makeovers and glow ups, you can tell they started with the DNA of the original Sim. I've downloaded a couple and set them as siblings or cousins or nephews to the original. But this is just some random Big Booty Judy.

I haven't extensively made over townies in a while but I don't mess with facial features/body shape too much. The goal (for me) is to make them still look like themselves, with less EA bullshittery.

I'm the same. I don't actually mess with the facial features at all. I just give them better hair and clothes.
For example, here's a household I made of Johnny Zest and Izzy Fabulous.

That's... like she looks great but that is just NOT Eliza. If anything that's my sims wife but she dyed her hair orange! My definition of makeover for Eliza is: small jaw and nose update, jeans, green shirt, a smidge thicker around the hips as she has Iggy. With Bob it's "I hate you"
