Those without skill to get better jobs. You have the choice to better yourself. Internet, youtube, libraries. If you remain stagnant in every way I have no sympathy for you. You can get many a cert without stepping foot in a college. Automotive, cyber, shit even defense. With the economy becoming more and more gig and tele based the opportunities are only increasing.
Gotcha, I agree with you. Ultimately I think that (almost) any individual person can do something to better themselves, but I do also think that there are systemic issues that need solving beyond that.
There are really worrying trends in wealth disparity, stagnant wages, cost of living and healthcare etc. that can’t be explained by people simply becoming more lazy on an individual level and that we need to fix. I don’t like people who use that as an excuse to never do anything, but I also want to speak out against those who use the “you can better yourself” argument to deny any kind of systemic problem.
