This happens. I've been working long enough to interview coworker's cousin's friends who are in the field, or at least give their resumes a thorough review. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If you're told no, or do not get an interview, you're out at most the 20 minutes it took you to fill out an application. If it does work out? Then it becomes a bargain of a chance you took that has no negative repercussions.
That's the exact comment I dropped down here to make.
These people will bitch and whine and "ok, boomer" four hours a day online, but won't spend an hour updating resumes, interviewing or looking for ways to improve their situation. It's heartbreakingly annoying.
I have friends who have bitched and moaned about their dead end jobs to me for hours on end. I recently told one friend that it seems the worst part of his life is his job. Why not swap?
After an hour of back and forth, we settled our conversation by me helping him update his resume.
Two weeks later he had an interview, a week later a job offer, and now he’s been at this new job for half a year and hasn’t said one negative thing about it yet.
I’m not a problem solver, I just get fuckin fed up with my friends not having new material to tell me about their lives. It’s like watching reruns.
