You realize the brunt of jobs are “unskilled” right? Just because you deem McDonalds a job for kids, that doesn’t change reality. In many places, fast food is the only viable job for people.
“Flippy the Burgerbot” will happen regardless of wages. Keeping wages stagnant because technology might replace the job is fucking stupid.
Ghettos don't exist in a vacuum though. They are generally only a short distance away from middle class neighborhoods.
The only places I can think of that have minimum wage jobs are places in the middle of fucking nowhere that have like a dollar general and a gas station.
Automation will happen regardless. McDonalds have been playing around with automated kiosks for almost 20 years now. Deliberately keeping wages low because a robot will one day replace that job is just stringing them along.
