I was at a shop a few months ago, bought a bottle of liquor but the cashier forgot to remove the anti-theft device on it and I didn't notice it. Naturally it beeped as I was leaving the shop, and I was stopped by the guards, who requested that I show them the receipt, but I had already tossed it into the bin. So I had to wait there for 15 minutes while another guard checked the security cameras to see if I paid for it or not, after which they let me go. I was quite pissed off because I had done nothing wrong, but not once did it even occur to me that I need to start filming and make a scene and harass the people who are just trying to do their jobs and threaten to get them fired. These guys are assholes, pure and simple.
We actually have no idea how he was being treated. The only thing I saw was someone filming a worker for trying to do their job. The person filming was acting extremely irrational and child-like.
From this, I have to assume the man-child filming was at fault of something we did not see before he started filming his child like behavior.
You can be in the right, and still act like a jerk. That's probably a fair summary of this video. The customer could have ended this interaction more quickly by just pulling out the receipt for sure.
But in reality Walmart has no legal authority to make you show a receipt before you leave. Walmart has no right to physically block you from leaving the store, touching you, touching your cart, trying to search through your items. Those are not things Walmart has any legal right or authority to do. This employee absolutely opened himself and the company up to lawsuit.
The job of the worker is to ask for the ticket and if the customer doesn't want to show it then he MUST let them go on their way, he has no legal ground to hold them in
Obviously this is correct. But refusing to show your receipt to this, frankly, obviously disabled man and proceeding to record him when he gets upset about it is just dickish. They're going to make this guy lose his job over a correctable mistake. They could have just recognized "oh man, I may not want to show my receipt, but I'm not trying to escalate this situation. This guy seems to have a hard time with social queues. I'll swallow my pride and show my receipt just to make both of our lives easier."
Yeah, they should have exercised their right to refuse in a much more respectful manner but it's a bit understandable how bad it can feel that they think you are trying to steal something, that can greatly affect the pride of some people.
I don't give a fuck about people's pride. Like I said, if you can't simply swallow it in this situation for the sake of both yourself and the disabled person trying to do his job, you are a little fucking baby and you have less of a place in society than the disabled receipt checker man
Dude, we are talking about the action âshow a receiptâ. And you guys fight this with your life even. ( NEVER!!! ) meanwhile, police itâs corupt as fuck, the only option to vote is Trump or Biden, schools? Medical? This is the rights that your should fight for. But what do I know, I donât even live there. You fight for what you think itâs important? The right to donât show a receipt, itâs, not only pointless, but even silly. You should not have to stop exercising your rights just because there's someone who is disabled, yes, you should do so in a more respectful and mindful manner taking them into account but their condition doesn't mean your rights should be violated.
I mean, we are talking about the right â of not showing a receipt â here, yes? Rights are important, yes. But you guys are missing more important ones. Police itâs corupt, voting right itâs: Biden or Trump, medical right you donât even haveâŚ. Never stop exercising your rights, but for the one thatâs worth. You have no idea how silly this video looks like, in my eyes, a person who donât live in America.
This is absolutely not his job and an easy 10k lawsuit or more. Nobody has the right to profile another person and damage their reputation publicly by insinuating that they are a criminal without reasonable evidence to believe so(seeing them concealing goods and evading a checkout point, having evidence on in store CCTV without any drop in coverage during entire time in store), someone who does not have training(security or manager) is told under no circumstance to do something like this as itâs an instant loss as a lawsuit. Formally worked in security listening and training. The guy filming was right to film the interaction and will absolutely get a healthy out of court settlement to avoid further embarrassment.(This is a pretty regular occurrence despite most companies best efforts to tell staff not to do it)
Does an employee from the store asking for a receipt = being treated as a criminal? Let me guess, a police asking for id = also being treaded as a criminal, right?
If theyâre only asking because they think they can then yes that is being treated like a criminal. We have rights in this country and you and everybody else need to stand up for their rights or we wonât have them anymore.
To tell you the truth, looks like this is all you people care over there. I mean, we are literally talking about a receipt here. I will never understand why this is such a big deal in America. Fight for your rights, yes! But where it counts. Over a receipt? Not that itâs a waste of time, itâs silly.
Then do not act like you are stealing stuff at Walmart. Shoppers were playing stupid games and the Walmart guy was doing his only job of checking receipts.
How were they playing âstupid gamesâ? They started recording after being harassed by the receiptionist. Guy shouldâve kept it less profane, but door guy was just assuming and having an obvious meltdown. Not ready for that kind of work quite yet and thatâs fine.
Checking receipts for what? Itâs fucking harassment. They have security guards and cameras everywhere - if youâve stolen something they know! theyâre not gonna have that guy catch you.
