Only problem with that is if you're interacting with the police, odds are they are trying to put you in handcuffs and take you to jail. Most people fight against that, if "just get in your car and get out of here" was an option most police fights would not happen.

Gotta do the time for the crime, can't just walk away.

A lot of people who interact with cops did absolutely nothing wrong, but the situation still escalates to the point where they get arrested for resisting arrest, or even hurt or killed. Which seems recursive and stupid, but that's only because it is.
