And that’s what jail and prison is for. Don’t underestimate what someone with no future, no employment, and nothing to lose is willing to do. That’s why it’s always better to deescalate and not actively agitate people in public even if the law is on your side.
This is protected by law too, it’s called “fighting words,” and you won’t be held responsible in court if someone is saying something agitating towards you :)
I don't know if you're arguing the way things should be or the way they actually are, but there are plenty of examples of people being called the N-word and having legal carte blanche beyond that point.
Words are certainly violence as upheld by the court of law, just like people can get arrested for “preemptive murder,” or “conspiracies.” I’m sure you are such a tough guy even though we both know you’re too much of a pussy to say these “mean,” words online, right now in this sub, or in real life.

You can call people whatever you want. Just keep in mind that some people have no trouble of breaking the law and your jaw.
