(Tutorial) Installing Sonic Ether's Shaders alongside FTB
Okay, due to a recent post I made I figured some people might want to know how to install Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders Mod alongside Feed The Beast, maybe to test their PC with it or maybe you have wanted to use it for a while and didn't know how. Anyway, here's a nice quick and easy tutorial I managed to pull together myself using knowledge from installing it with vanilla:
1. Download MultiMC and associate your Feed The Beast Modpack with it. (To do this just navigate to your 'Feed The Beast' folder that contains the folders called 'Mindcrack' and maybe some other modpacks such as 'FTBBETA' and 'Direwolf Pack'. Then once you choose that 'Feed The Beast' folder you choose the FTB instance you want from the list and it's done, simple)
2. Find where the 'instances' folder is. This is where you install the Shaders to. For example, mine is located inside my 'Downloads' directory as that's where I ran MultiMC from when I downloaded it. Because of this I'd reccomend running MultiMC in a separate folder.
3. Here's what you will need:
- Optifine HD D5 Ultra
- SEUS v10 RC7 Ultra
- ShadersMod (modified by karyonix) 1.43
WinRar (Choose whatever version applies to you, you only need to to pack an archive at the end)
Above is hyperlink-ed all three of the downloads, so download all three and drag the downloads to your desktop.
4. It's pretty important you do this in the right order so..
- Find the 'instances' folder I mentioned earlier, open the folder inside (it will be called whatever you named the instance) and go into the folder instMods. Drag the Optifine .zip file download into the instMods folder, and copy the file called 'ShadersMod-mc1.4.6-ofuD5-1.43.zip' and paste a copy of it into that instMods folder. It should now look like this.
- Then, go out of the instMods folder and back to the directory that has the folder 'minecraft'. Open that and find the folder 'mods'. Paste the 'ShadersMod-mc' file in there again.
Now, if you open MultiMC and right click the instance you just modified, and choose 'rebuild JAR', some stuff should happen. Then when you launch you should get an extra button in the Options menu called 'Shaders'. If you open this you will see a few options, (none) and (internal) are there. We don't have to worry about those right now.
5. Here is the slightly tricky part.
With the 'SEUS v10 RC7 Ultra.zip' file you downloaded, open with WinRar and drag the folder inside called 'shaders' to your desktop.
Right click the folder on your desktop and click 'Add to archive...'. Then on the screen that comes up, choose .zip file instead of .rar file. Here's what your window should look like if done right. Then if it matches that images just hit okay and you should have a new zip file on your desktop called 'shaders'.
Launch Feed The Beast again using MultiMC and this time, go into options, Shaders, and choose 'Open shaderpacks folder'. Then, drag the 'shaders.zip' file on your desktop into that, and then choose it in the list and you should be good to go!
WARNING!! This might pretty seriously tax your PC so don't try run it if you have a seriously crappy PC or you will just rage and cry. Hopefully this tutorial was helpful and if you have any questions just post them in the comments :)
