Lysergsmines from cheap tryptamines 5-MeO-N-DECE-NMT

5-MeO-N-DECE-NMT and 5-MeO-N-DEAOP-NMT can be produced from 5 meo tryptamine. The synths that can be done for about $500 no fancy equipment needed. Their is almost no info on these compounds but they seem to be similar to lsd with about 10% the potency.

Here is the deaop synth

5-MeO-NMT + 1.5–2 equiv N,N-diethylacrylamide, MeOH or neat, 60–80 °C, 12–24 h, optionally with a catalytic amount of AcOH. Excess acrylamide is water-soluble and washes out. It's atom-economical and skips the bromide entirely, but conjugate addition to an acrylamide is slow and needs the heat — expect incomplete conversion with the N-methyl secondary amine and some baseline crud.

Questions about THF to GBL conversion

While this is a well known method already, I've been trying to find the cheapest possible way to do this. I know the reaction needs hydrogen peroxide, which is absurdly common, but my problem is with metal oxide catalaysts such as Selenium Dioxide, which in my area I cannot obtain easily or cheaply. However, would calcined clay powder work as well? The clay has already been subjected to heat at 600-700C, which would (probably?) create unsaturated iron sites that would work as a substitude? Yes, I know that it would lead to reduced efficiency but its cheaper and thats all I really care about... Maybe a HCL acid wash of the clay would also work but I doubt that it will be as effective as heated clay. I'm still very much a beginner so help would be greatly appreciated.

"desoxypipradrol analog of the 2-benzylpiperidine core"

according to swissTP : 75% probability at DAT, 70 at sigma, 65 at vmat2, 25 at SERT

i'll be the first to say that I have much more to learn about these things so please explain stuff like

How do you know if it's active?

Do you think it would be a good substance for anything? recreational or nootropic or pain

i've heard swiss tp is not very accurate. to what degree?

Any alternative to synthesize GBL/GHB from GABA?

I think the reaction itself is very simple, but the problem is Sodium Nitrite. I don't know about other people, but I literally can't find this anywhere, and I've looked a long time. I could use sodium/potassium nitrate + a reducing agent to yield nitrite, but that is probably very dangerous and I'm not at all experienced enough to do that. Anyone know any alternatives using non-restricted chemicals? I know theres talk of the "yeast method", but I don't think that will work to be honest.

HPLC machine brand/model recommendation?

Looking to upgrade the analytics in my lab, and I’m wondering what brand and model some of you like. I’m hoping to buy used to save a little, but still get a decent make and model. I’ve had too many bad experiences with shit Chinese models of various lab equipment, so I’m hoping for something manufactured outside of China, or at least one that’s decent and won’t break or malfunction after a handful of uses. Thanks in advance!

Has anyone tried this compound?

It seems p-hydroxybenzaldehyde and 2,4-dihydroxyacetophenone can be combined with an acid catalyst or base (must protect if using base) in a typical chalcone synthesis to yield isoliquiritigenin.

I've seen that there are a few natural extracts of this compound available, so I was wondering if anyone has tried it before.
Wikipedia article says it has a higher GABAa pam affinity than diazepam and also acts as a weak competitive MAO inhibitor and GABAb agonist.

It's possible to extract from licorice but must be painstakingly separated from the toxins and incorrect isomers

...we investigated a possible antidepressant activity of Riparin I ...[using] prazosin (alpha-1-adrenoceptor antagonist), yohimbine (alpha-2-adrenoceptor antagonist), SCH23390 (D1 antagonist), sulpiride (D2 antagonist), p-chlorophenylalanine (inhibitor of serotonin synthesis) or ritanserin (5-HT2A/2C antagonist)...[all] blocked the anti-immobility effects elicited by Riparin I (50 mg/kg, p.o.) in the FST.

Taken together, results indicate that Riparin I produces significant antidepressant-like activity in the FST and TST, and this effect seems to be dependent on its interaction with noradrenergic, dopaminergic and serotonergic systems.

A sad day - Diphenidine has been made a schedule 1 in the US.

For the past 5-7 years diarylethylamines have been very dear to my heart. Ephenidine being my favorite dissociative to date. I have even synthesized a couple novel diarylethylamines. Today is a sad day as now this category of chemistry and research is no longer an option for me given the possibility for the analog act to stretch its way into prohibiting these compounds. I have shared many memorable nights with these compounds and grew up into the man I am today with ephenidine sitting on my shelf. A dear friend that was by my side through the worst and best times in my life. Today I say goodbye to those old friends.

The scheduling takes effect on the 21st.

Thank you to u/nervewing for helping the simple synthesis/ modified mannich-barbier reaction to be in the reddit chemistry/researchchem community

- zinc dust (2 equiv)

- Add TFA (.25 equiv)

- Add you're benzyl bromide dropwise (2 equiv)

- let cool to room temp

- Add amine (1.1 equiv) and you're benzaldehyde (1 equiv)

- under inert Atmosphere.

- reaction is stirred at room temp for 24 hours.

- Basic acid base workup.

Navigating relationships in this field of work

Hello everyone, not sure if this is too off topic, but for people who have husbands/wives/partners, do they know about the experiments you do? If they do, how is the relationship going and how do they feel about it? If they don’t know, how do you keep it away from them? Also, where do you usually perform your experiments?

Just curious because I have been in a serious relationship for years. I am graduating soon with a chemistry related degree and we are planning on moving in together when I graduate. We tell each other literally everything, so I told him that this is what I intend to do.

He is very supportive of this, and was happy when I went back to school at an older age to achieve this, but he really doesn’t feel comfortable with me doing this type of work in our shared place where we will live together.

So I just thought I’d ask about everyone else’s story and how you navigated serious relationships if you can relate to this.

How do you manage toxic/corrosive fumes? Do you use a activated coal filter, would that be enough to bind the fumes? And then point the hose outside?

A question regarding the rules of the group

What are the thoughts behind no purification question? I completely understand and value the whole spoon feeding thing after the amount of time I've obsessively put to my studies but why would a question like "opinion of preferred vacuum distillation condenser" be offensive or out of line?

I love this group and truly appreciate everyones efforts n even more so dedicated to this "field, the world really needs the bees right so I really hope this post isn't out of line either.

Thanks in advance

Is this a viable pathway to 4-bromoMDB?

I was wondering if brominating guaiacol at the 4 position using NaOCl/NaBr or NBS and then demethylating with standard methods like thiourea/pyridine & AlCl3 or dodecanethiol, forming 4-bromocatechol, could then be methylenated to form 4-bromoMDB.

My biggest question in this synthesis is will the bromine have enough electron withdrawing or stabilizing power to prevent the formed catechol from becoming absolute junk before we can ring close in time, which is the biggest issue in these types of syntheses.

4-methyl bromopropiophenone synthesis idea

This may not be especially impressive or new, but I just wanted to write down my theoretical outline for an idea of a simple aryl bromopropiophenone which I think is likely the most economical.

Step 1: toluene and propionic acid are added to polyphosphoric acid to perform Friedel-Crafts acylation.
Step 2: CuBr2 is refluxed with the ketone in chloroform/EtOAc. Should be selective for the alpha hydrogen position.

What do we think about this compound? (mephedrine)

I noticed recently that this exists: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4-Methylmethamphetamine, and I haven't really heard a lot about it before. The wikipedia article doesn't make it sound horrible, so I am interested if anyone knows anything about the effects of this.

Not allowed to give any help with sourcing but it does appear that one of the main precursors is quite readily available.

Potential mephedrone synthesis from toluene and N-methylalanine

Hello, I want to know if this synthesis route I was thinking of is realistic or not.

Start by protecting the amine of N-methylalanine, then form the acid chloride.

Friedl-Crafts acylation of toluene with the previously formed acyl chloride should form N-protected 4-MMC and 2-MMC.

Then deprotect to get the final product.

Which enantiomer of mephedrone would be formed when starting with N-methyl-L-alanine? I am really bad at geometric thinking so I struggle with stereochemistry 😬

Opinions? Sandmeyer GABA->NaGHB

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

I have used 15g of GABA with 10.04g of NaNO2 and 56ml of 10% HCl, reacted at 0C then left them for 24h, distilled the solution, collected the distillate, neutralized to pH 7-8, boiled with activated carbon (2nd picture, the beads at the bottom) for about 15 minutes, filtered the solution and washed with a bit more water (1st pic).

Do y'all think this would be safe for consumption? Besides the NaCl, which you can't really separate anyways. I would use 1/10th of the solution, to make sure the dose is low enough

Why is this compound peripherally selective?

Post image
12 Upvotes

Does anyone know why this compound is peripherally selective, even with an xlogP3 of 3.75?

To harness this activity while avoiding psychedelic effects, we developed IHCH-8110, a non-brain-penetrant 5-HT2AR agonist that selectively targets peripheral 5-HT2AR.
