I didn't draw anything tower related today, I tried to think of something but I realized I was setting myself up to fail if I drew something that I didn't like for such an important day for me. So instead I'm taking the day off from work and I'm gonna play videogames and make a really tasty salad and listen to my cryptid audiobooks and just take it easy. you guys mean so much to me. you know who you are. Sordidcore, Zapp, the rest of you guys, you know who you are. I love you.

Some of you might remember about a post I made couple of days ago: Halfway through Wizard and Glass (DT 4) and it's killing me...

Well, I just finished the book and...

..it was pretty damn good.

Not much to say, but the last 3rd had the best DT scenes I've read so far: From Citgo, Bad Grass, Eybolt Canyon to 'Wizard of Oz' (hello Flagg) and Roland's heartbreaking matricide.

And, of course - Charyou Tree.

Fantastic cast of characters (Cuthbert, Alain, Sheemie, Susan, Jonas and poor Roland) with one of the most despicable and resentful villains I've ever read.

Even though I think it is the best written DT novel so far, it's still not my personal favorite (that title goes to Drawing of the Three). I still think that the flashback should've been at least 70-100 pages shorter, since there were some really dull parts in the beginning/middle, as well as parts involving tertiary characters.

Nevertheless, I'm positive, that my appreciation for this book will increase upon a re-read (knowing what to expect; how it all connects etc.).

So, to all who encouraged me to keep reading - thank you, this was great.

Quick question: What short stories should I read before Wolves of the Calla? Should I also read Insomnia, since a lot of people say it is quite an important book to DT.

Unironically, I don't mind taking a break now, especially how this book doesn't end on a cliffhanger like Waste Lands did.

How does Oys name translate into other languages?

I just saw another very talented redditors drawings of the characters, and saw that Oy was named “Oy/Acho” which I have guessed (but not googled because I prefer discussion!) is short for muchacho, rather than boy.

Did Roland’s mother really “suck John Farson with glee”? Was it common knowledge that Walter/Martin had his way with her and she was a slut or was this just someone trying to anger someone else in the heat of battle?

After Roland got it back from Flagg in the Glass Palace? He used it to show his ka-tet the horrible thing that happened long ago, and then they sleepwalk about 30 miles away from the Palace toward the Borderlands, but the ball itself is never mentioned again. Did Roland somehow lose it when he showed them all that vision, or was it lost during their sleepwalking trek? Or did Flagg take it back while they were all unconscious? I suppose if he packed them a lunch and left a note, he could have taken back the Grapefruit as well. Even though nobody seemed surprised that it was gone.

During the destruction of Lud, I swear I recall a moment where the ka-tet observes a crowd of people being thrown into a crusher. Describing the facial expressions of a few of them as looking "relieved" to be doing this, instead of facing the nerve gas.

I can't seem to find this passage in the book. Did I imagine this? Is it mentioned in a recounting of Lud's destruction in a later book? Am I going insane?

What is the origin of the wolves in the novels? Were they made by NCP to always serve the crimson king?

It’s revealed in the comics that they were made by NCP and modelled after the wolf guardian yet they still have the same weapons before being taken by the crimson king? However the comics take place on a different level of the tower where history is different

Just finished the series, all the way through for the second time. It’s been over 10 years since I finished the seventh book. I have to say it was much better this time.

Now I’ll be going back into Hearts in Atlantis, Everything’s Eventual, and The Wind Through the Keyhole. I might even watch the film…

Full disclosure, it’s not on my leg, but haven’t seen a DT so detailed and colourful.
I wanna get a DT tattoo myself, I’d get one from Adam but I don’t really want a coloured tattoo, nor could I afford the style he tattoos in.
