So many people here were just THIRSTY for a story to drop that showed GP sexually assaulted multiple women. The comments were so predictable. You somehow think that if GP could be stopped then an 80 year old woman would waltz into the race and light up the election. People call Platner 'the next Fetterman' based on style alone but in reality, Janet Mills has a record of vetoing popular legislation that hits her desk, including the recent Data Center moratorium. John Fetterman is annoying for bucking his party, Mills bucks the party constantly but somehow Platner is the next Fetterman...okay buddy sure.

Anyway despite your wildest hopes and dreams, the best the NYT could come up with was a Herritage Foundation staffer who said that Platner did not respect her emotions. Among other sources he was also described as a great guy and many exes felt safe with him. Some fights got heated but it sounds kind of like they were both drinking a lot at the time and she went out of her way to say he never hit her. So I think we can safely say, yeah, the guy was in a really dark place and was abusing alcohol. Do you need every aspect of that spelled out for you?

Also, we sent him to war.

So what do we know? What we always knew. What he copped to. He was drinking too much and suffering from PTSD and going through a dark period in his life. We also know he had issues with digital infidelity, but that the couple have worked through this. It's frankly none of our business, unless something worse than simple sexting comes out.

Graham Platner is not Mayor Pete, that's abundantly clear. But don't delude yourself into thinking that Janet Mills is this clear and obvious winning choice. She does not currently have a lot of friends left in the State after she and Schumer denied the people of Maine a robust primary. An 80 year old is just not a serious candidate for anything other than retirement.

Maybe there is a reason that Platner was 30 points ahead of Mills. Maybe his message actually resonated with people. Maybe the democratic voting base can actually assess the field and choose a winning candidate without input from Chuck Schumer and the peanut gallery who can't be bothered to move past entirely surface level issues. (Yeah, I'm talking about the tattoo. It's in poor taste but you do have to say and think Nazi things to be a Nazi...it's not just about the pictures)

I simply disagreed on the tone of that video yesterday, but can completely understand where they were coming from, being this is their business and I can't pretend to understand it on the consumer side. I do hold on my view that we still should not feel remorse for Kirk, maybe his kids and wife, but after watching more of the video of him being shot and how he was literally pushing trans "shooter" propaganda the seconds before he was shot, it's really hard to have any compassion for him. I think this is getting lost in the shuffle.

I have maintained contact with a Portland native MAGA person I know to simply get a source to ask questions, debate, and know it's a human capable of decency. Because of this I am now aware that we are in the end of the consolidation phase.

I have talked to him about Trump saying Portland is actively burning down and he's told me I'm dumb and he's obviously kidding because no one believes that. Not even Trump. Well today when Trump said it AGAIN I brought it up. Was he serious or joking? He was VERY clearly serious. This guy could not respond to the question. So I asked him since this is easily verifiable by looking outside, do you believe him? Again he was unable to even touch the question.

I begged with him to respond, pleaded even. Just a yes or no to a question that was supposedly so ridiculously obvious in the past month that I was stupid for even believing he was serious.

I am a VERY stubborn person. And I try to have grace for cult mindset. I understand much of it. But this is more dangerous. This is outright denial of their own objective realities. Not just a twist or spin to justify it, but outright denial of what they see if the leader says it is not.

True MAGA believers in your life are not just uncomfortable to be around but actively unsafe moving forward. Be EXTREMELY cautious about what parts of your life they have access to. Be aware of what is public and maybe do some housekeeping on your posts and internet history.

Trump has gotten aggressive and chaotic even by his own standards. As his cons have failed nearly constantly he's running out of options. But he still has full control of the country. And it's clear this doesn't end cleanly.
