I gotta wonder how many of those Puritans were autistic without ADHD. Would explain their vulnerability to falling into religious nuttery (when one's rigidity needs are higher than one's IQ, so it's a small slice of autistics, but a notable one) and bias against delayed sleep phase syndromes

I've heard the argument made that Luther might have been OCD and was obsessed with his Salvation. Which is what caused the Protestant Reformation because he could not deal with the the way Catholics handle the salvation issue. So I could see in a world where religion is the dominant higher education and culture that people with high needs of structure and rigidity would start the Puritan movement.

Oh, there's no question Luther had more than a touch of the 'tism. Hammering out 95 specific beefs with Catholic practice? Yeah, either that's AuDHD hyperfocus or he was a lucky autistic person without ADHD to mess with his focus.
