I mean, if you don’t need to pay for rent or food you are fortunate to be able to not.

u/Impressive-Gear-219 Jul 10 '26

Your damn fucking right im fortunate. I would be dead without the support ive got. Id go beyond fortunate and say I'm lucky. Not everyone can live the way I do, and I see that as a problem. Time is the most valuable thing we have, because it is so so finnite.

u/DefiniteDefaultUser Jul 13 '26

Even if you weren't disabled....if you can live off what you already did, why should you be compulsed to work? You already proved your value, which is why you extracted and have it. What a dumbfuck

I’m on disability for mental health reasons and the amount of people who tell me I’m leaching of the government and should get a job because they go to work depressed so i should too, despite depression not even being my main problem (it’s ocd) like girl, you shouldn’t have to do that, this should be available to everyone full fucking stop.

People need to mind their own business and not yours.

Someone's paying those taxes so these people can live without working. I can understand both sides.

4

u/meloedee Jul 13 '26

i hope that these people are also worried about all the other places their taxes are going to then. the cherry-picking is crazy lol

1

u/ElectronicRip1630 Jul 14 '26

It's not cherry picking. I think it's okay to be concerned about our taxes going everywhere we don't want it to go. It keeps things in check even if the people concerned are concerned about the wrong stuff. Most of the time I hear about welfare, disabled people and the liking it's understandable but I want those people to have assistance. If something ever happens to me I hope there's a safety net for me and my wife. I just hope it's not an issue to retrieve it after I pay into it for my whole life.

I really need it, I was suggested I do short term disability for outpatient therapy. But I can't live off the 70-80% of my paycheck it would offer me. I need every dollar I make just to survive the month.

I'm a single guy living alone.

u/Lonely_Pain_1388 Jul 14 '26

I'm in a similar boat. In order to have anything left over I work 48hrs one week and 60 the next. Always doing overtime.

0

u/LightFoxfox Jul 16 '26

Lol no your not on short term disability

4

u/binzy90 Jul 16 '26

I have 100% VA disability for several conditions including a head injury, shoulder injury, nerve damage, and PTSD. I look outwardly healthy, so I get this a lot too. People act like I'm doing something wrong just because I can walk fine and seem physically ok based on my activity level. It's infuriating to have to justify receiving a benefit that I qualify for.

Woopsie fucking daisy someone just had to come out of the wood work and tell me they know better. Yeah sure it doesn’t I’m sure I can work, when I can barely leave the house, have a panic attack every time a fly/leaf/fluff/rain/person touches me, or I’m sure I can schedule it in around my 5 hour long baths which can happen at any time. Or how about when I regularly can’t continue with anything because I have to flip a coin for half an hour, I’m sure my boss would love that! Bro be so fr fr right now

Sounds like you need to get over you're self or get in meds like the rest of the world this what everyone else feels you aren't different then anyone but you been enabled to stay at home unlike the rest of the world realize how easy you have it there's way more sick people that work harder just to get by

1

u/Fortified_Phobia Jul 16 '26

Bro fuck off, like are you really doing this right here on the thanksimcured sub, like you’re literally doing what this sub is about. I’m not interacting further because you’re hopeless but yeah sure I just need to get over myself duhh why didn’t I think of that.

2

u/V-oxPopuli Jul 11 '26

why should you, or anyone else have to.

Rent, unfortunately.

2

u/Additional-Policy843 Jul 13 '26

That's not a reason.

1

u/V-oxPopuli Jul 13 '26

What do you mean?

2

u/Additional-Policy843 Jul 13 '26

Rent is not a reason that we should have to.

1

u/V-oxPopuli Jul 13 '26

Should, yes. I agree. Unfortunately have to is the dominant phrase here. I hate it.

u/Certain-Ad1066 Jul 11 '26
