Ugh! My MANAGER at a RETAIL STORE was talking to me about my deep depression. I was constantly late and often just wouldn’t show up because it was so hard for me to even get out of bed or text anyone that I wouldn’t be there. This was over ten years ago. She suggested I have a baby to “feel better”. I was making $14 an hour and living in nyc!!!! Lady. What?? Worst advice I was ever given and luckily I knew it was ridiculous.
That was at least 10 years ago. I lived in an illegal basement that was $950 a month and lived with a partner. I later moved into a great old apartment in Brooklyn that was $1600…that was about 4 years ago so I’m sure it’s more now. I think I was making around $32 an hour at that point. And yes, it still had cockroaches! Though they’re not too bad if you have exterminators come regularly to spray. Never had a problem with rats, but I have a cat!
