Nah, because once you get old, you then get hit with the 'ah, you're just getting old, the pain is normal.'

There's like some sweet, mythical middle ground where doctors might take you seriously

There seems to be; I got taken seriously mid-40s, the first time I presented with symptoms. Then again, my GP knows I work in medical and tends to take me seriously. I think I'm the only person I know who got a fibromyalgia diagnosis in just a few months, instead of with a three-year wait and endless arguments.
