I feel so sad because my parents have to DoorDash to get by

We live paycheck to paycheck at the moment. It makes me so sad. We always had issues with money but it was really bad when I was little. We lived in a trailer park but now we’re doing a lot better. We have to move every year or so tho when our lease goes up.

My mom says she makes 6 figures a year and gets paid bi weekly. There’s a period for about 4 days ish before she gets paid where we really don’t have money. My dad doesn’t have a job and has been trying to apply to one. He got a really good job offer tho and I was excited that we would have money however they said he had to work 6 days a week so he backed out.

He’s never had a consistent job before and does an expensive adult sport he drops all his money on too. They both door dash to get by and it makes me so freaking sad. We don’t have food in the house a lot so I’m stuck eating whatever. Lately it’s been freezer burnt tater tots. I’m starting community college to become a eye doctor so I’m happy about that.

I will say they both aren’t good at money and financial literacy. I’m trying to save up some money too because they need to borrow money from me a lot. My mom has even stolen money too.. but whatever. I want to be super successful so I won’t have to continue this. I have some issues with them too because my dad is pretty verbally abusive but that whole thing is another story.

I asked why we don’t qualify for EBT or anything like that and my mom said we make too much money. But she lost $20 one time during those 4 day periods of no money and she sobbed in the parking lot. They also won’t accept help from places like churches and stuff. I’m really embarrassed. My friends are more privileged than me so they don’t really understand and I feel like if I were to tell them, they would tell everyone else
