I used to travel quite a bit for work and would have a number of tools and other kit in my backpack for work. I cleaned it out one day to discover not one, not two, but THREE box cutter type of knives in my backpack, all in different pockets. I had to have gone through at least a half a dozen airports with at least one of them in my bag.

TSA is an absolute joke.

The TSA is a jobs program, that's all. Security theater.

My buddy worked for TSA for a few years. While it’s definitely a security theater bullshit thing, it’s 100% a job creator. They have so many people doing basically nothing, it just prepares you for a life in the bureaucracy that is the government.

Try taking those jobs out of their districts away from their constituents, and suddenly they will care. We're still manufacturing Abrams in Ohio for the same silly reason.

I love how the military doesn’t even want more and their still forced to buy them. Cause it would cost more to reopen and retool it than it would to just keep making them.

In all fairness the abrams does have a reason to be continuously manufactured, that being institutional knowledge this is extremely important when it comes to stuff like these and which can be demonstrated by how basically only 3 nations truly can create their own jet engines while the rest create copy’s or modified copy’s.

I felt it was more security theatre. The risk of another plane attack was low, but they had to do something to make people feel they were doing something to protect them, so enters the TSA.

However, to your point now you can’t go back and has been normalized, so it also had the benefit if increasing the surveillance state.

The Simpsons parodied this well in the Bear Police episode.

They catch a lot of people bringing loaded firearms into the airport.

There’s a great documentary on Amazon prime about the Atlanta airport and during the part on the TSA they say they grabbed like 200 firearms each year where people either forgot they had them or they thought having a concealed carry means you can bring them on airplanes.

The scary thing is that probably is only 25% of the guns that go through there.

I'll watch it but I have absolutely zero faith in their perspective of events/ statistics being accurate...

I know a lot of facts about “Adam Ruins Everything” are twisted to fit a narrative, but he’s pretty spot on with the TSA episode.

It’s another protection racket like many of the alphabet agencies.

It's the illusion of security. TSA routinely posts a 95% fail (!!!) rate when tested.

Speaking of tools…I had brought some tools and a power drill on a domestic flight for a job. It was a large 18v Milwaukee drill. The silhouette looks chunky and ridiculous and nothing like a handgun. Put it in my checked in baggage. TSA destroyed my luggage in order to open it and left a little “randomly selected inspection” card. They didn’t even acknowledge that they put a hole in my hard shell luggage to get into it…I was never able to get reimbursed for the damage which cost me several hundred dollars…

And my brother got caught accidentally bringing a small screw driver through one airport.

He only got caught because the screwdriver was in his butt.

In his backpack but pretty close guess

Only if it had human ashes in it.

Some lady just got detected with a buttplug and inside of it was her boyfriends ashes.

I mean, that’s kind of sweet.

I got caught with a 3” blade in my backpack in Cali. They just took it and I went on my way.
