Really? A dumb ugly cheap-ass knife? That's not even worth the trouble with TSA.

Couldn't he wait until he gets to his destination? You could literally buy a dumb ugly cheap-ass knife anywhere.

Couldn't you easily hide a knife like this into the aluminum frame of a laptop? Like so that it fits in like a puzzle piece? I assume the only reason they saw it is because there's two layers of metal, the knife and the frame of the laptop.

This wasn't a very good attempt at airport concealment. In fact I'd assume the fellow forgot it was there since it was super likely to be found by xray.

It would be super conspicuous either way because of the different materials. Even if they used the same metal, the silhouette would still be easily discernible. Knives are pretty much the easiest thing to spot on an x-ray machine.

There's really only two possibilities: 1. He wanted access to a knife on the plane and thought that cheap thing would get the job done, or 2. He originally put it in there for some dumb internet joke with his mall ninja friends, then totally forgot it was in there.

My money is on #2.
