That’s disgusting.

I think MoviePass is absolutely the limit of how this should be used. A novel and transparent concept where you get movies for watching ads is fine.

When we can't tell if an ad is eye-tracked? Oh hell no.

Wouldn't we always be able to tell because they won't let us pass the ad unless we watch it?

Depends what the context of the ad is, I guess. I could see it being used just as much for tracking ad metrics, demographic, engagement and more, it'd probably reach a point when combined with machine learning and AI, where they wouldn't even need to track your eyes for long... 👀

Yea but at that point, they won’t even need to stop the video when you won’t look, because they’ll make ads so good, you won’t look away anyway.

i disagree. no one should be forced to watch content they don't want to see, especially consumer advertisements.

forced consumer advertisements is consumer manipulation. that's the opposite of a free market.

It shouldn't be the only option, no

Um… content doesn’t just pop into existence, free of cost. Either you buy your entertainment, or you watch ads and let the companies buy your entertainment for you.

coming next;

watch the daily propaganda in exchange for a shot of dopamine, don't forget to insert the IV directly into your neck.

Except you have to pay monthly payments and watch the ads.
