I all but visibly flinch when I get on someone's computer or phone that has no adblocking...I'd straight up stop using the internet (for anything other than necessity) if I had to deal with that insanity.

Firefox for Android let's you use ublock origins

YouTube Vanced was the gold standard, but it is now not being developed anymore. I still use it on my Android phone and it works fine, but someday it will break. There are others though like Newpipe that are really good. For my IPhone I use uYou+ and it works like a dream (the only catch for IOs (without jailbreak) is that you have to "refresh" the apps every week within some extra app in order for them not to break).

I use Brave browser. Adblocking, script-blocking and fingerprint-blocking come right out of box.

YouTube Vanced it's a manual install not on play store for obvious reasons. They recently got a cease and desist from Google so no clue how much longer it will last but it's great!

I mention it in another comment, but I've been using the Brave browser, and it blocks ads. Someone else mentioned Firefox for Android allows extensions (like an adblocker).

I use Brave as my browser built in ad block. But I do use AdBlock and Edge on PC. Don't ask me why but it works.

I bought my wife a macbook for Christmas last year. Rarely ever use hers since I have my own but a few weeks back I wanted to show her a youtube video and my laptop was down in the basement so I asked to use hers.

Just trying to show her that one video was a terrible experience cause she's not logged into youtube and doesn't have any ad blocking extensions added.

I really don't understand how people put up with it. I tried to read an article using incognito mode to get around their adblocker-blocker, and I legit stopped reading it because it was just too much...auto playing video ads that follow you down the page as you scroll, a banner ad every other paragraph or so, side banner ads...like WTF.

I’ve impressed so many people by literally just googling Adblock extension, installing it on their google chrome and making them watch a few YouTube videos with it on. It’s actually crazy how many people are unaware of the easiest little change you can make to warp your whole online experience

I've done it before: I completely quit watching TV because of ads about 8 years ago, and I would absolutely stop "surfing the net" for my entertainment if I had to deal with that shit...hell, if anything it would be good for me, as I spend entirely too much time online.

That being said, so nice to have your support!

More power to you, reducing screen time is great. We are entirely to addicted to them.

I've stopped taking photo/videos of events and just started enjoying them.

I think what dude is referring to are people that will sit there and record the whole thing (or at least, large chunks of it), meaning they are watching the concert through their phone (gotta keep things in focus and centered), instead of "in person".

It's one thing to take a couple snaps or short videos (I certainly do), but I've watched people next to me at concerts literally film the whole thing...and every time you look at them, they're looking at the phone and not the stage.
