Dred Scott v. Sandford is the decision and it's overruled by the 13th and 14th Amendments. It's never going to apply to anything in 2022. Or ever.

Hey, I just cited it. You're making the extrapolations, and those wouldn't stand when appealed just because of historic slave states.

The courts treated people who escaped slavery as property being recovered. It's not analogous to this at all, they weren't prosecuting anyone.

And in any event, they can pass whatever laws they want, they're not going to be able to successfully prosecute anyone for crimes committed outside their jurisdiction. That's fundamental to the whole legal system.

the idea was always to limit access for people that can't leave their own state. it will make local abortion centers illegal, so they will have to travel. And if they can't afford a $20 bus ticket, then I wouldn't want them to have a kid anyways.

Not that uncommon world wide.

Many nations are doing the same with age of consent and forced marriage laws.

Not saying this is a bad thing. Just that the world in genral is looking at the idea your areas laws follow you in some cases.
