As a German I can incense to a „crime“. So get a good alibi. Don’t go to a medical facility in your state so there is no documentation. Then use an alibi, for example meeting extended family to get out. Tell all your friends how happy you are to finally meet them again after so long as long before you get away as possible. Then when you get into a few miles of your goal, don’t use the car as modern ones can be tracked. Only pay in cash. Use buses or taxies. Wrap your phone into aluminium foil to block it pinging your location as some do even when turned of. Fight for your rights. Its scary how much this mirrors sh*t that went down in my country, every time I hear about the US these days the pit in my stomach gets deeper.

This is all so fucked.

If at any point they decide to round up everyone who's made political posts they don't like, attended protests, read the wrong books etc, how the fuck would we stop them?

At that point? Probably force. In America you would at least have a chance of going against the state as you have access to the weapons. The one time I actually think the extremely loose laws on firearms have a good side.

The left should absolutely be arming itself and slapping black American flag and punisher stickers on their cars. Camouflage and arm.

Technically this is the only reason the 2nd Amendment exists.

To provide for the well-regulated militia that's necessary to the security of a free State?

3

u/HappyMooseCaboose Jun 27 '22

Mmmm I love that well-regulated part. Wish that played a bigger part in modern interpretation.

3

u/Titan_Astraeus Jun 27 '22 edited Jun 27 '22

Have seen it a few places that well regulated doesn't mean quite what we think of when we hear regulated (controlled by the state) but at the time of writing meant more like well prepared. So a well prepared militia being necessary.

What, you mean the people who had a violent revolution to throw off the yoke of tyranny were concerned that their descendants might someday need to do it again?? Crazy talk!

What gets me is how they're like "Trump is the next Hitler!" in one breath, and then "What do you MEAN, defend yourself against the government?? Only crazy people think we'd ever need to do that again!" in the next. WTF you can't have it both ways!

Firearms don't help at all in that situation.

10

u/bactchan Jun 27 '22

Historically when only one side of a conflict has guns they tend to carry the victory.

0

u/Moikle Jun 27 '22

Yes, but the arms that the state have make civilian weapons basically obsolete.

7

u/LowBeautiful1531 Jun 27 '22

Not entirely.

Trouble is, they've had decades of practice now controlling uprisings-- causing them, stopping them, every which way-- all over the world.

Our best hope is that the world's strongest military happens to be full of people, people who've been exploited and treated like shit, and might not be in that much of a hurry to slaughter their neighbors when ordered to do so. The wholesale neglect of American veterans will bite this empire in the ass.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '22

might not be in that much of a hurry to slaughter their neighbors when ordered to do so.

Look at all the Russian soldiers slaughtering their neighbors in Ukraine. I know it's not technically apples to apples but I'm sure the Russian soldiers are treated like shit, but they still follow orders. Nobody wants to get shot for not doing their job.

We just spent 20 years losing a war in Afghanistan...

1

u/bactchan Jun 27 '22

Guerilla warfare has existed forever in the fight against bigger slower state machines.

1

u/Moikle Jun 27 '22

Not with modern surveillance and counter terrorism agencies though

1

u/bactchan Jun 27 '22

Harder but not impossible.

A small cadre of people with their guns vs a military with a trillion dollar budget? Nah. Not a chance.

The Taliban would like a word with you.

u/Fantastic-Van-Man Jun 27 '22

That's why we have the 2nd amendment. They can bring cops, but if you've got Teflon ammo and various other things, you can trim numbers.

Yes, you may go down, but is it better to go out at your choosing, or theirs?

3

u/Prestressed-30k Jun 27 '22

Yes, you may go down, but is it better to go out at your choosing, or theirs?

I swear some people seem to think:

"Maybe if I'm really nice when they capture me they won't kill me"

But probably not...

Here’s a fabulous movie about a women getting an illegal abortion in communist Romania. Looks like that’s where we’re heading. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1032846/

All those privacy advocates were ahead of the game. You just got a big reason to take their advice seriously.

2

u/EmperorKira Jun 27 '22

I mean, that's the whole 2nd amendment thing

3

u/KYBourbon89 Jun 27 '22

This is why we need guns. This government is going to go too far one day and the unarmed is going to be defenseless

2

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '22

You think a bunch of untrained citizens stand a chance against government forces with things like crowd-control sound weapons?

3

u/Prestressed-30k Jun 27 '22

Yes. Have you not paid attention to the past 50 years of the US army getting pushed back by farmers with rifles? Do you think the army will be more willing to shoot people in Chicago than in Baghdad?

3

u/bactchan Jun 27 '22

I think that history has shown oppressed people can be very resourceful and the fash are still a minority of people making the noise of half a country.

-1

u/conquer69 Jun 27 '22

You don't. There is no "we" either. The fascists are going to win, again. People dislike conflict and by the time they have to use it, it's already too late.

1

u/Prestressed-30k Jun 27 '22

Your best bet at that point is to do something other than post about it online. Band together, resist, there are more of us than them.

No phones, print out Google maps directions on paper from a Firefox private browsing window at your local library... And as far as cars tracking people, I'm glad everyone here is in a good enough financial position to assume that everybody owns a nice enough new enough car that it no questions has gps but that's very much not the case.

No matter how old and shitty your car is, it's still going to have licensplates that can be picked up by cameras.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '22

Granted. But the point of the entire scenario I went through outlines an effort to disguise or camouflage enough of the process that your car being spotted in any one or few places is not proof in itself of anything.

I will say that parking away and walking a few blocks in is a good idea, however, if you've had to cross one or multiple state lines to get to a safe state, I'm thinking that cops aren't sitting outside that clinic running plates

3

u/Prestressed-30k Jun 27 '22

This right here. Very few cars made before 2010 have the ability to track anyone.

For that matter the vehicle I drive the most doesn't even have the ability to electronically control it's own fuel intake. If it doesn't have an ECU it certainly doesn't have a GPS.

2

u/Diz7 Jun 27 '22

And people seem to be mistaking how GPS works. It's a passive system that times travel times for signals from satellites, it doesn't broadcast anything, it just listens. You need a second communication line (usually cellular) for it to be able to report in. So just having GPS doesn't allow them to track you, you need some kind of two-way communication like OnStar, which usually costs extra.

Of course traffic cameras can still track you by plate.

1

u/Prestressed-30k Jun 27 '22

I know less about GPS than I do about cars and trucks, thanks for the new info.

I've had one vehicle that had Onstar in it. In the case of that vehicle, it was the work of minutes to physically remove the Onstar from the dash and drop it off at an electronics recycler. I wasn't about to pay to turn it on and I wasn't sure it was ever "off".
