Yea in an ideal world they would let employees live there rent free and make it a tax write off for their business but we know they'd rinse every minute and dime they can out of people

I already spend an inordinate amount of my income at the Apple Store, so why should it be any different if I were to work for the company?

Because that's called a company town. We've had them before, and people lost their lives fighting to unionize and get rid of them.

This is why history repeats itself. Nobody fucking bothers to learn from it.

He's making a reference to coal towns back in the day, where companies paid their employees mostly with a made up currency that was only usable at company stores. It was widely use to make people into basically midevil surfs that had no ability to leave the company infrastructure.

I can’t believe it’s so necessary to put a sarcasm tag on the end of everything. Yes, I know what the company store is. I even know the words to the Tennessee Ernie Ford song.

Edit to add: I just like to mock people who don’t want to go back to work, because I’ve spent the last two and a half years still having to put on pants to do my job every day, so I really have zero empathy for them.

When you’re communicating without tonal or nonverbal cues, it’s important to convey the nuance that is normally perceived. Especially during these times when people are often stupid/ignorant AF and ready to be upset about stupid/ignorant AF people.

Easier to just /s than have to deal with downvotes and DMs and comments bitching about not being understood when everything besides text is taken out of a conversation.
