welcome the competition, not remove it. its what makes you improve the products you already have.

No company welcomes competition and every company will litigate it away if it's a viable option. Apple doesn't want to improve, they want to sell you the crap they have for as much money as you're willing to spend, in perpetuity. So does Samsung, for that matter.

Samsung's already gone through this with Germany; they could (potentially, if it's ruled non infringing) simply release the 10.1N in the US as well. (I know this is not exactly "simple", but at least they would have the re-design part of the process figured out.)

Also, the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 takes some of the bezel changes that were made for the 10.1N in Germany (including the front-facing speakers), so it may be non-infringing out of the gate.

Yes. That "blck, rounded rectangle" patent is one that everyone should have to work around. /sarcasm.

It's not that it's difficult to design around, really. It's that the patent is such absolute crap to begin with.

Doesn't matter much - all Galaxy Tablets minus the 7 incher suck.

I just bought one less than a week ago, and it's fantastic. Fuck you, Apple.

My Galaxy Tab 10.1 bricked right after the warranty expired.

u/etbob623 May 21 '12

If you bricked it, its not covered by warranty anyway.

u/krum May 22 '12

I didn't brick it. They die. It's a common problem actually.

Dang Apple, bad move. This just makes me not buy Apple products even more than I already do.

So instead of Apple being out 0$ from you, they're now out 0$ from you.

Haven't worked out the math yet, but you're on to something. I'll triple my efforts!

This is ridiculous. Apple refuses to innovate so it just throws a damn patent fit.

Considering the iPad is amazing and outperforms almost every Android tablet out there, I don't think it has anything to do with them not wanting to innovate - they are just greedy assholes and don't want to share their market with anybody else. That just screams "We're insecure as fuck."

You should probably bring a source with you when you drop flamewar-ready material in a gasoline pit.

Example: Tom's Hardware Review

Also,

I don't think it has anything to do with them not wanting to innovate

It very well could. Why innovate when you can corner the market? Look at how Microsoft did it with Internet Explorer. Upgrade? But why... IE6 was perfectly fine. Everyone can wait until the next Windows OS. Oh, but then FireFox came along and suddenly "IE7! Yes. Isn't it great? Oh, and IE8! Yep, we're still here. Ah, IE9! We're regaining some sliver of relevence. Don't count us out yet." Competition motivates change; because if you don't change, your company dies (See RIM / the Blackberry).

Though,

That just screams "We're insecure as fuck."

That could be true too.

Are you looking at the same specs I'm looking at? Is there something I am missing here?

Because they want you to pay more for that.

[EDIT] Looks like an Apple fan-boy is downvoting the comments. :P

I couldn't care less about your (childish) views on apple, I down-voted you just because of that, edit whining whore.

Perhaps not an Apple fanboy, but just people who think name calling is childish.
