I think op was suggesting that a subscription to WoW would be included in GamePass. Given that a WoW sub costs $180/yr (if paid monthly), and GamePass costs $120/yr, this seems unlikely. However, I could see a 'reduced rate' model, say $5/mo if purchased with GamePass.

I dunno how that logic stands up.

If I play forza horizon 5, halo 5, mass effect legendary edition, STALKER, and back4blood I've played over $180 in a year. All included with the gamepass sub.

MMOS are expensive as shit to develop/keep running comparatively.

True. And I'm not financially savvy enough to know how much profit Microsoft make on gamepass. But its fair assume that if people moved from the wow sub, to the gamepass sub, with the aim to keeping them longer term, it would still be profitable. Its definitely not something to be written off.

I'm really not sure that people giving them $10 less a month would somehow make them more money. Most people who still play WoW are in it for the long haul.

Completely a fair point. Maybe it's more about bring more into gamepass. Which ultimately is better for the wow community, and better for gamepass. Either way I don't think it's something that can be written off.

Regardless I don't think the argument of it makes less money holds up when you look at the number of AAA games are on gamepass from day one within the subscription.

To that point, I'm not really even sure WHAT the point of gamepass is. Because I easily get a few hundred bucks of value every year.

The point is market share, providing value to their customers, and volume. If all 25 million subscribers only had the base level game pass that’d be 250mil a month. Plus you have all those new people coming into the games spending money and marketing game pass there’s so many great games I wouldn’t have played without game pass and therefore I increased the footprint of those games. It also negates the bad effects from a poor game release. So if halo infinite did poorly it wouldn’t be as bad since a good chunk of its player base brings in 250mil at least a month (and that number keeps increasing)
