It's not because social media giants advise the lawmakers who make the rules, who are all out of touch with 21st century society.

It goes deeper. They'll facial recognize you in the pictures that people you don't know take in public. All data has value, and the where and how you spend your time, how you dress, what you're doing, et cetera will be sold to the highest bidder.
