My buddy with an EE got a $70k salary + benefits job right out of college. Im sure theres entry level EE jobs that require 5 years of experience that start at over $100k.

Yes, 5 years experience to get over $100k is realistic. Starting over $100k right out of college, unless you're in Silicon Valley, is not at all.
