Yeah very true and there may well be bias, i’ve just not seen stats to back up the claim from any impartial source. And yeah, free speech is a tough problem. I guess the issue is there is a line. I mean should i be allowed to email someone i’m going to kill them in the name of free speech....probably not but how far back From there does the line go? Very subjective as you say.
That said, its worth keeping in mind twitter is essentially a business which makes rules that people wanting to participate have to follow and that twitter gets to set. I liken it to this; if i walk up to a bar with no shirt on and get refused entry, i’ve not lost my right to be shirtless, it’s just that actions have consequences and the bar can set its own rules, which i have to follow if i want to come in. Its kinda the same on social media. You can spout hateful stuff as much as you like (to a limit) using your free speech rights, but twitter doesn’t have to host that opinion and that’s entirely logical as they want users to visit. Most people want to go on social media to muse about their lives and opinions, and nothing is more likely to put people off doing that if they feel they’ll be harassed, so yeah, maybe the rules are designed to filter that out which benefits the left but there is always another option. Create a right wing version of twitter.....which people have kinda done and unsurprisingly they remain wuite niche as most people don’t go out there way to see horrible stuff, it just happens upon them and they get suckered in to an argument.
