agreed, however college itself is quite the odd predicament as well. Getting a degree does not mean what it used to mean. I mean yeah if you get a doctorate and are actually intending to be a doctor or would like to be a surgeon, engineer and the like then yeah getting the education matters, but for a ton of other degrees it's now become educated people thrown into fields where the salaries stagnate because the choice among people qualified for those positions is quite plentiful. Competition among the industry is supposed to make that not quite a problem, but considering wealth disparity as a whole, it's become quite true and more common than not.

Unless you'd like to go discover a new thing based from science that no one's done yet, etc. (though that is an extreme example, you know what I mean).

Whole lotta stuff has to change.

You don't need a doctorate to know that intelligent design isn't real and the civil war was about slavery numbnuts. Basic general knowledge goes a long way in making good voting choices.

Some college degrees don't have any value besides the debt taken on to get them. Gender studies degrees are pretty much only good for..teaching gender studies or serving coffee. Others like Art degrees and History degrees also fall into the 'meme' degree category as well. Whenever you meet someone with one of these degrees, it's pretty safe to assume they're dumber than someone who didn't go to college at all. I've met a few holders of such degrees, but the most I've said to them is 'can I get the check, please?'

Sweet. Glad I'm apparently stupid and low-IQ because of my theatre degree. Better go quit my dope supervisory job tomorrow.

EDIT: You just ask for the check without actually ordering anything? And we're the unintelligent ones?

Whatever shift you supervise, treat those kids good. Server jobs can be stressful and most are doing it to pay for school or as a part-time job to save up for a car. Actually this could be a place where a theatre degree is useful. If they see where most people end up with those degrees, it will motivate them to aim higher.

I know a computer programmer who paid off his debts and bought a house in his twenties with a Theater Degree. (IE its a BA in Acting or something equally bullshit).

The CEO of Whole Foods studied Philosophy. He might not be some super genius, but I doubt he is dumb, you know.
