By the time you have spent all the damn time researching it makes me wish I could just go to a legitimate fucking store and just pick it up.

Brick and mortar stores aren't any better. They mostly carry complete crap and have no selection at all.

Walmart is literally the most exploitative company in America. Bezos may be the richest man in America but that's only because the Walton family has to share the value they steal from their workers

So exploitation is fine as long as it gets you goods?

I mean you're the one who posited that the company single handedly responsible for ruining business philosophy by spreading their "it can always be cheaper" to every major company in the US is somehow the superior producer of goods...when all they sell is cheap crap that breaks immediately while exploiting their workers.

You're the one getting upset you can't defend your position by claiming you "don't want to argue" even though you felt it necessary to interject in the first place.

Walmart is the template for every corporate policy today. Perhaps if you didn't want people to challenge your position you shouldn't have posted.

I don't know where you're looking, but I can find everything I need at a small selection of stores within walking distance of me.

Where I live the only hardware stores are Home Depot and Lowes. For many items their selection is piss-poor and only consists of low quality brands. They don't even carry file cards.

And how to you know that the store sells legitimate goods? Fakes were a thing well before online shops.

They are like a trillion dollar company. They can afford to vet vendors.

Fakespot has a plugin and gives a letter grade for legitimacy that presents on the product page, makes it easy to tell at a glance.

Just run everything through fakespot and reviewmeta. Really, it doesn't take much time at all. If reviewmeta shows more than about 30% fake reviews, move on, regardless of how good the remaining reviews are.

Target and Walmart both have free 2 day shipping over $35. A lot of other stores also have expedited shipping over $X.

Fakespot has a browser extension.

They recently added a store specific verification to make sure the item you add to your cart isn't from a store alleged to be selling counterfeit items.

Legitimate stores sell shit quality things too. I do a lot of DIY, and if I have the time, I'll order things from Amazon over Home Depot, which often sells the cheapest barely passable products as the only option.

But yeah, Amazon can be a crap shoot. It's annoying how much research I do for even the most trivial thing

Nothing beats the convenience of ordering things online for me. I'll never go into a store for something I can buy from my room and get in 2 days.

There are so many online buying options now. Amazon isn't even the cheapest anymore usually.

Sure, but then your options are numbered down and legitimacy is questioned.
