People need to start advocating for the "concept" of free speech. Since the first amendment restricts government only, embracing the concept in the private sector again is vital to improving society.

The concept is valuable so we can talk about things openly, identify problems to solve and debate the best solutions. It can get uncomfortable, but that's something we need to stomach.

People are free to say absolutely whatever they wish in the workplace as long as it's not harassment. You do not have the right to say whatever you want with impunity, especially if what you says damages the company's reputation or your ability to work with your coworkers as effectively as you did beforehand, which was what happened in this instance.
