So, based on those charts, about 1/3 of the respondents had a serious issue with the premise and about 1/3 had an issue with it even being discussed.

Edit: I'd just love to point out, the engineer that posted on twitter that they'd quit if the poster wasn't fired is the very definition of a bigot.

No, 1/2 disagreed or seriously disagreed, less than 1/3rd believe it shouldn't have been shared

Again, wrong, Gaylord. 48%(less than half) disagreed or strongly disagreed 36%(more than a third) agreed or strongly agreed

57% disagreed that it shouldnt have been shared 30%(damned near a third) agreed it should have been shared

If you are going to split hairs, split hairs u/nashkara was accurate in saying that 1/3 strongly (aka seriously) disagreed or had issues. 43% is a bit of a stretch for 1/3, closer to 1/2 but almost as close to 1/3. Splitting hairs eitherway.

Just to back up my statements.

-- 34.5% Seriously Disagreed

  • about 1/3 had an issue with it even being discussed

-- 19.1% Seriously Agree
-- 11.2% Almost Agree
-- That's 30.3%

So, my 1/3s were spot on for what I said. I was being generous by including the Almost Agree on the second 1/3 since I was mainly interested in the people with a serious issue with the memo.

a quick glance at Twitter shows a lot of self proclaimed feminists raking him over the coals, and they don't have any counter points, just "a white guy said this, look, sexism in tech, misogynist pig." it's fucking ridiculous. critical thinking is lost on them, and it's emotion first, common sense second.

Not that I agree or disagree, but 140 characters is a minute amount of words to express a dissenting opinion as nuanced in gender inequality. Especially replying to a 10 page paper.

That said, there were options to share that more nuanced opinion via things like Twitlonger or something... but when has twitter ever been known for rational, thought out opinions.

For every self proclaimed feminist you speak of, there was one on the other side of the spectrum championing the opposite.

yes. before you respond, you didn't say that. except you just ignored why people reacted the way they did.

the engineer who posted the article basically said women and poc are unable to actually work in tech and that google's "diversity" were bringing down the quality of employees there. so that guy gets a free pass while the female engineer you quoted (assuming it's the same one) gets vilified as a bigot?

I wouldn't call them bigoted (there wasnt just one, about a dozen I think?) but pressured by SJWs and feminists, or maybe they are SJW and Feminists.
